Bmi Fast Track Senior

Hi guys and gals!!
Does anyone know anything about the BMI Fast Track programme?
What sort of salary package do they get and on which aircraft do they operate.
Im considering London heathrow base, is there anybody doing the above programme now on here if so have you any info for me please .
Just one last question im guessing a senior on this programme means a no.1 is that true? and how many crew do you normally look after.
thanks and hope to hear from you all soon

Thumbs down

You've got to ask yourself why bmi need direct entry No1's?

I flew for bmi for 14 years as crew and recently jumped ship to BA. bmi WAS a great airline to work for a couple of years ago but has gone down hill rapidly in the last couple of years, many of its experienced crew have gone to BA sick of the long days, bad conditions and poor pay. Crew who do join are typically young and inexperienced hence the need for direct entry SCA's.

Yes you will be an SCA, but bmi operate with min crew so you'll be working hard 3 crew on A319's, 4 on A320's and 5/6 on A321's. Cleaning the aircraft on turnarounds ( which your not paid for), min commission, low hourly rates , 4 sector long days and hardly any nightstops and those that are left are min rest in airport hotels. Add to that very severe management and attendance policies and a crewing dept that are under huge stress due to chronic undercrewing - well you get the picture,

On the plus side the crew at bmi are fantastic! and some of my best friendships have come from bmi. Its good fun once your onboard although it is very low cost now with pay for everything onboard. There is longhaul out of manchester and LHR but this operates with dedicated crew and its very competitive and political to get onto longhaul.

If your earning half decent money and have a life stay where you are, a title is not worth giving up a life for.

My sister is on the assessment day on Monday, has anyone else done it? What does it entail? Is it more of the standard airline thing?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

BMI FAST TRAK @ LHR

Thanks for your comments guys and gals lol , I went along to the interview and had a great day .
The whole day was really relaxed and the ladies there were so so friendly, I got a really good feeling from them.
I had a good group of 8 with me at the interviews so it was a good laugh.
(which lady was your sister????)
The interview consisted of a presentation about Bmi and working conditions, group activites then had to try on a life jacket and sit in a crew seat (bizzare but fun lol).
Then should you be successful you are invited to a two on one interview, which was relaxed and as sad as I may seem but fun just like chatting to a couple of friends.
And yipeee I was successful, I know Bmi have had a bit of stick by people on here but ive got a good feeling about them and im definatley looking forward to being a part of the onboard team.

I implore you to take heed of what TDD writes. Try to think 2 yrs down the track when the shine of a new job and being selected for fast track has worn off.....................you will be on here saying just the same thing (if bmi survive that long!). Every airline has its moaners and a lot can come here to vent their spleen, that is not the case here, TDD is not one of those.

If you decide to take it I genuinely hope it works out for you.

BMI FAST TRAK @ LHR

Errrm cheers 6 chimes but im not looking at BMI due to the fast trak senior position , so the shine may not wear off as you may think.
I know we all dont like things in each airline and as you say we all have our moaners in each airline but.... look at my side of this iam offerd a position with an airline ive travelled with and know fairly well with a decent salary and benefits and then you say this.
Im very grateful for your comments but please tell me why I should take a wide berth because without the info its hard to see why.
I hope you understand what I mean and I hope to hear back from you.

cheers twisted but as I mentioned above rather than tell me to stay clear and thats that , tell me whats so bad about them.
As I have said I seemed to get a good feel about bmi and ive heard good things but I would be very interested in hearing your reasons for your warning.

I really appreciate any advice you have and I look forward to your response, if you want to send a private message.

speak soon

DDD Many years ago I worked for BMA as it was then. I joined in 1986 and left in 1990 to join BA.

Towards the end I hated the company. I probably hated it because of the management more than anything. Although I was a FSM the workload that was expected from us was huge. Not only having to fly but also having to complete lots of paperwork whilst on ground duties.

However having said all of that I am also thankful to BMA for giving me a start in the industry when a lot of airlines turned me down.

I think if you go into the company with a open mind and with a view to doing it for a couple of years in order to gain experience you will then decide if its for you long term or maybe with that experience under your belt move onto another airline like I did.

Good luck with what ever you choose to do but remember BMI has given you a opportunity now.

Let me be blunt.

bmi is not an airline, it is a select club that gives its owners a millionaires lifestyle whilst you support it. There really is no interest in providing a service (how long have bmi british midland been around and then look at what they have done in that time, ( bar the box!)), but they expect you to work your butt off to provide a good service because you care, which covers up their lack of investment.

Basically, every thing revolves around that.

6 Chimes let me be blunt!

I feel your being a tad bit naive here. Your right in saying that BMI expect you to work your butt off for very little reward but believe me if any other airline could do the same with its workforce they would!

Its only because of strong unions that we are able to enjoy the comfort and security.
