easyJet staff travel

Hey,
having applied for ezy recently, they have no vacancies in Newcastle, where I am from.

However, I see from the website that the staff travel is unlimited on the whole network.

Im thinking, maybe popping up home every week or two if I was based in STN.

Do I have to pay the airport tax? And are the staff tickets like standbys? Do I just turn up and hope for the best?

I know that there will be time restrictions, such as rota'd in on an early flight with not enough time to arrive from NCL.

ANy help greatly appreciated :-)

You are right there. Staff travel is unlimited so technically you could fly home to newcastle from stansted on your 3 days off but.....being as EZY is a low cost carrier and being as staff travel is at its most disasterous time ever, you will be lucky to find the flights you want at the staff travel rate.

At present, to fly anywhere on the EZY network on staff travel rates shouldn't cost you more than £30 return incl airport tax. That's approx £5 per way before tax. The best time to get the flights you want is 3 hours before you want to go, that way the booking computer will know how many seats are left onboard that flight and can determine if they can sell those remaining seats for the full price before offering them to crew.

I know that was a bit of a mouthful, but staff travel is a topic within EZY that people are very unhappy woth at the moment, but is being looked at by the right people.

Thanks for the quick reply! :-) So does the rota work four days on, then three days off?

Hi geordiejet,

The roster pattern is 6 days on (normally 3 earlies followed by 3 late reports) then 3 days off. You will fly either 2 or 4 sectors each day (from STN) and can expect home standby's, airport standby's or contactable duties (which are very complicated but mean you might work or you might not)!

Staff travel is a contentious issue at the moment, but I've found being flexible helps and I've always got the cheap flight's I desired.

Good luck with the interview and training!

Thats cool about staff travel. Do you guys think it would be better to be based at Belfast. I Have seen that EZY are recruiting for there, and in my experience, the flights often have a fair few spare seats, so my chances of getting home may be better.

It depends what you want. London bases offer quicker promotions and more career oppurtunities. Belfast is a smaller base with a family feel. Staff travel wise I have had no problems getting seats this winter. In the middle of the summer it is harder to get seats, but still possible if you are flexible.
