Airline Specific Private Forums (QANTAS?)
Hello Moderators!
I was just wondering...given the large number of Qantas staff who participate in these forums, why isn't there an Airline Specific Private Forum for Qantas Crew?

Perhaps a private forum for the entire Qantas Group might be even a better idea? One that includes all the subsidiaries (AO, JQ, Qantas Link etc..) What do you all think?

I would support an all-inclusive forum for all QF Group (and NJS)... We all contribute to the same pocket on Geoff's trousers. And it may just help clear up all the misunderstandings we have of other divsions. Perhaps even breed some tolerance and acceptance. Who knows?
It's always good to know how the other half live... And even better to know where we all are coming from.
Either way it could only be a good thing

I find it interesting that everytime a Qantas thread starts to appear it dosent take long for people to show how bitter they are working for the company. I dont often reply to threads but just cant help myself this time round!! I cant understand why people stay in a job that they dont enjoy doing!! If they feel the conditions are not good nobody is forcing people to stay!! I have to say I think the majority of Long Haul Qantas crew are happy and enjoy there job and the award. The few that dont I cant understand why they DONT get out!! Nobody is forcing anybody to work for Qantas Jetstar Australian Airlines.. Come on guys life is to short to hat what you do!! Get OUT if you dont like it!!

Love the job ...Hate the management
QFR5
I/We love our job and what Qantas represents(used to?)To be told by your CEO that you are a "necessary evil" is not endearing.The comraderie makes it all worthwhile however.Dixon is forever doom and gloom...I sometimes wonder whether HE enjoys working for Qantas.We all know its a competitive industry..we don't need to be reminded every day.We all attempt to do our best with what's available(which isn't much)
Even the passengers and media are aware all is not well and are becoming more vocal.
A diet of doom and gloom does start to have a negative effect as evidenced by the growing number of unhappy pprune posters.

andyman !!
I am awake and have been a long time!! I have worked at Qantas for a while now. Our JOB is to provide customer service andswear call bells keep smiling hand out food collect dirtlt trays and most of all make sure all our paxs get to their destination safely!! Thats is what we get paid for!! There is no need to start worrying about keeping your job as this isnt why you get paid.. If Qantas make a decision its made up!! Look at the last EBA for QF Long haul!! all the strike action all the drama!! Qantas got what they wanted !! They are your employer !! Like i said before you or anybody else cant change anything!! If you like what you do enjoy it for as long as it lasts as you dont know whats around the corner!! Fighting Qantas moral being down dosent hel you nor the travelling public!! People dont care !! They want a cheap fare to get from A to B!! They dont care about your pay or award!! For anyone that it all gets a bit much and you loose focus think about what you do and if you enjoy it!!! Dont worry about the politics!! If you start to get involved you get very bitter and thats what people dont pay for when they get on Qantas! They expect the best service all the time !! Just like on SQ or EK !! Nobody that flies cares if its Australian ..If you are working to hard!! Its all about the airfare and what price they got it for!! And they also expect the best service ..not grumpy crew with attitude ..see what I mean!!! So maybe you should wake UP!!

Maybe Qantas people could start their own website, then they wouldn't have to use this one at all. I don't know about other non-Qantas people but I find most Qantas stuff really depressing. It sounds like the most negetive place anyone could find themselves. Lighten-up you guys, you should be enjoying yourselves. Remember nothing lasts forever - including life. If you look at the crap dumped here month after month after month, it's enough to make you ...

SkyDude ....I am glad I am not the only one who sees this!!
If Qantas people had there own thread room can you imagine all the negative chit chat!! I work there and I can tell you now its only the minority who feel like this !! When I go to work we have a great time.. There is only one or two people who try and drag you down!! I turned around last week and told a crew member if its that bad and if its getting you that down what are you doing still working for the company!! His answear was I like the money and enjoy being away!! Ahh I said so its not that bad thern is it!! I guess its about time people start to look and why they are doing the job!! A lot of people on this forum sound so bitter that I cant understand what they are doing working on board and in customer service !! My thoughts anyway!!

Could the reason for all the negativity be that QF management:
* Are intent on cutting costs at every perceivable angle (to the point where customer service eventually suffers, and the employees wear it regularly from the passengers);
* Are insistent on reducing the pay and conditions of all employees across the board, except at management & board level;
* Publicise to the media, ad nauseam, that their employees are 'a millstone around their neck'; and
* Bleat doom and gloom to their employees on a regular basis while recording massive profits?
I'm the first to admit this is a changed industry. What would be nice to hear, from the top down, is something MOTIVATIONAL for a change. And, possibly, even receive incentives (not necessarily financial) to achieve common goals.
At Continental Airlines in the US, when the staff took a pay cut, so did management. This is inverse to QF's approach, which only builds resentment.
We're not all whinging and whining (I hardly think that 10,000 odd Cabin Crew across the QF Group all use PPRUNE), but PPRUNE allows us an outlet outside of the workplace to vent our feelings. If I'm not mistaken, I can't recall reading that many positive threads on GB Airways, Qatar, BA Eurofleet to Worldwide transfers, etc.
We all have something to complain about. Some people handle change better than others. At the end of the day, with each of the respective airlines, all the employees have these days is each other.
Back to the topic - I wholeheartedly agree with the introduction of a QF forum.

An ever so slight deviation from the topic, but I beg forgiveness.....
Andyman_82 says:
I remember not so long ago when the LH EBA was being negotiated that we were told to get over it and accept that some of our jobs were being sent overseas.
Just goes to show that solidarity should work both ways.
However, I have no doubt that if push comes to shove Cabin Crew will be there arm in arm as they always are when the going gets tough....
And I humbly beg for forgiveness for taking a slight deviation from the original topic - however, the hypocrisy needed to be highlighted and there was little point in starting a new thread.
I too also support a QF specific forum (I suspect some of the other larger carriers who have contributors would like the same).
Finally, most of Cabin Crew love their job in Qantas - its plainly evident when your online or flying as a passenger (as I did for years before flying as crew). Like all forums this gives us a place to vent and exchange views, without repercussion. Better to do it here and than onboard.
Thank god for PPRUNE!!!
