Crm!!!!

Here's a good one I found in the flight deck 'rumours' room. I sometimes think that CRM was invented for characters like this, and from a Captain as well!!!

411A

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As with many airlines, cabin crew are a dime a dozen...easily replaced.
Hardly worth worrying about.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The topic was concerning the mass exodus at GF.

Don`t let it bother you Crewmeal. Honestly. 411A tends to post such comments and over the years of my time on pprune just laugh at this person . Its done to get backs up and get reaction. Its can get a good conversation going with the posting though...

They may not be like this in person. I don`t bite stay

Good point tiger
I would have been surprised if 411A had said anything different

As to the title of this thread: What does it have to do with crm?
Everybody always cries CRM whenever people make comments that are not perceived as being "nice"for everybody.

Guess what? CRM is not just "being nice for everyone".
I believe 411A has made a valid observation here. I`m not a big fan of 411A in general, but this thread has nothing to do with CRM.

If 411A meant that most airlines don't value enough their CC, don't train them enough and treat them like a replaceable item = don't invest in them and (out of greed and ignorance) are blind enough not to realise they are an asset, then he's right.
Maybe he should have worded it differently?

Speaking for myself, I usually think (I seldom cry) CRM when someone's attitude makes working as a team disagreable and ultimately difficult. At least it's what they teach at our annual CRM RT.

I'm not surprised. CRM is one concept taught with different emphasis to pilots and FAs. For pilots, CRM (originally CockpitRM but now Crew) is mainly centred on how to how to solve problems, in the extreme to prevent or minimise disaster with the obvious case example being UA232 in Sioux City back in '89.

CRM gradually expanded to include the F/Es, Navs, loadmonsters, even FAs and ground crew and from the FA POV is more concerned with team skills optimised toward getting the job done as well as handling cabin contingencies.

Seat's right.... nothing to do with CRM> A better title might be...:

"I don't like pilots and here's why: 411A"

411A is reviled because he normall tells it like it is and people don't want to hear it. He doesn't sugar-coat it and, rather than pulling his punches, he puts his back into it .

FCA

FCA have joint CRM courses with CC and F/D and they are brilliant.

One thing I am going to miss when I leave the pepto-bismol outfit!!

True enough, airlines use and misuse us-how many roster illegalities did you have last summer? I cannot count them.
They don't recruit enough people, and wear out the few loyal cc that can put up with them.

This applies to many airlines....not only mine.

Ciao

think CRM - expecially if integrated with cockpit - is something BASIC! I'm a certified jar-ops crm/hf instructor (took in Sweden) and I think every cabin crew MUST be trained as well as cockpit crew. It must not be considered as a routine training , expecially now that re-enforced doors divide cabin crew from cockpit. Anyway courses give a direction on how to cooperate on board, about matters which are not usually discussed during recurrent trainings or basic courses.
My opinion is not to undervalue the importance of a good CRM preparation!

Hey Flybywire,

It seems that you can't wait to leave your airline . That's fine but you shouldn't go shouting about roster illegalities. I bet you , you don't even know what one is ! You shouldn't talk about things you don't understand....................................

I know A LOT about roster illegalities, and i know that i had MANY last year.I also know my scheduling agreement inside out. Not to mention that my boyfriend worked for the CAA and I still have friends who work there who keep me updated.

If you work for "us" and are in the crewing department, I am willing to give you my name, surname, staff number and you can press that little button on the page that says "roster illegalities" and check it yourself.Last summer it was a shame...but yet, isn't it the norm for the junior cabin crew????

Cheers!!!

Everybody loves a squealer!

Perhaps instead of picking and choosing comments from old threads (that comment was posted some time ago), just provide us with a link so that we can see the context in which the comment was made, rather than the one you wish it to be. From memory, I think the context shows a slightly different angle to the one you havre alluded to in true tabloid tat style.

I bet you must be a real popular team player at your airline.

looks like you're doing exactly the same thing, though!!!

The comment above was added after discovering a rather "unusual" private message that the person above sent to me. What I actually said in this thread is that my company actually has some good CRM session with F/D as well as CC. Some comments to my posts were absolutely unnecessary. I think. Just an opinion like anybody else's.

Amazing how certain people are so interested in other's people lives/behaviours, isn't it Level2?

No hard feelings.
But I don't take any s*it from anybody, I am sorry, the same way I don't take any from pax onboard, or from my company.

Take care and relax.

Cheers!
FBW

PS: as i said to Level2 this airline doesn't work for me anymore, but it would probably work for other people.
This is why I am leaving and also why I have been absolutely honest with whoever asked me info about it. The two things can actually co-exist: I can see both the good and the bad.
And I am still very enthusiastic, despite all the crap, and no-one ever complained about me at work.

Can we go back to the topic and read something constructive please?

I agree with Witchdoctor on the fact that a link to that old thread should be included. Actuallly I think 411A should have a chance to read this topic and explain what he meant with his comments concerning the crew being easily replaced and not worth worrying about. But isn't this afterall the usual airline management point of view?

Too true FlyByWire, the C.R.M. at First Choice was great! I'll miss our drivers! Great lads!
Btw, why don't you start a new topic about rosters illegalities? It would be interesting to see what people come out with! Level2's comment has not much weight to my opinion: how is he contributing to this website anyway? He's posted... what? 16 times in 5 years!?!...
