Oz Passport = Which Airlines?????
Hi there everyone,
Im an Aussie based in London and have been here (on a working holiday makers visa) for the past 1.5 years. I hold an Australian passport (only) and Im wanting to know which airlines - besides QANTAS, Emirates, Gulf, QATAR I am eligable to apply for???
I have sent off applications to JAL and ANA, however, with my visa restrictions I dont see anything coming of that. ALTHOUGH, I did attend an "Emirates Open Day" in the UK and have made it to the next round of interviews for JAN 04. *touch wood I get in* But if I dont... this is not going to stop me, obviously reapplying with Emirates again and trying other international carriers.
I am really wanting to hear from anyone who is in a similar situation and who also holds an Aussie passport... Is there anywhere else we can go?!?! Im desperate to get "up there" and establish a career as a flight attendant with a recognised company. No offence to any of you out there who work for the smaller airlines (domestic) within Australia - But working for an airline doing only domestic - simply does not appeal to me.
So if anyone can elaborate on any other airlines who employ Aussie's - be it in the UK or back home I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks again evefyone out there who helped me out before I my Emirates Open day - your info and support REALLY paid off!
Please email me direct [email protected] or simply post a reply - I am also on MSN Messenger as well.
Take care and HOPEFULLY I will see some of you in the big blue sky soon

Hey Paul
I suspect your problem won't be the fact that you have an Australian passport, but more about whether you have the appropriate visa to live and work full time in the country that the airline is based.
So, if you had the right to stay in the UK to live and work fulltime you could apply with any number of the airlines there. Same applies for ANA, JAL, Cathay Pacific etc.
You could try having a look at www.cabincrew.staffcv.com for different airlines who are accepting applications for cabin crew.
Cheers

Ozskipper,
Thank you for your reply
Yes, I was wondering if anyone knew of any other bases that Aussie passport holders are eligable to apply for... ie like Emirates set up the Visas etc - I was wanting to know if there is a listing (besides flightdux) that is freely avalable?
I have scowered the internet - to no avail.......
I have my details on www.staffcv.com - but they are mostly domestic - I am honestly looking for international...
Anyone???
Take care people and keep on posting!

Also look at the website flightdux.com, it contains info on what airlines are recruiting and requirements for specific companies, also aviationjobsearch.com may be of some use. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi Paul,
As said above, unless you have the appropriate visa the only countries you can legally work and live in is Australia and New Zealand. Which of course narrows the international airlines down to Qantas, Australian, Air New Zealand (must be living in NZ at time of application) and Pacific Blue.
As you probably already know, Emirates, Gulf and Qatar also accept foreign nationals. I think also some corporate jet companies in the middle east also allow foreign nationals.
Hope that helps!
