Just out of curiosity what changes where made to the Flight Crew Uniforms?

Did it include a change to the hats i.e. from gold to silver??

Many Thanx

Giving everyone a kangaroo badge would be like giving everyone a 'ten year badge' just cos people like them !!!!

The kangaroo badge, along with the rest of the CSM uniform, represents something that has to be earnt !

Black is the new 'Black'

I think our friend Morriessy tried to bring black back (say that after a few Chardy!) but think it is yet to catch on. I reckon the women in the black dress look as if they are waitresses for some old rich dude. I keep thinking 70's porn but is that just my sick imagination?

The women look fabulous in the print dress. The vibe seems to be that the Link print is nicer but I prefer the mainline one myself. Either way the print dress looks really stylish and comfy. Very Summer but still business like.

Also love the women's pants/skirt and blouse combo. Very professional. Saw some older women wearing it and it made them look a million dollars.

Still not sold on the Mormen look for guys. Yet to be won over. I still reckon it is too traditional and black. The print tie just adds a "I've been to a Yothu Yindi concert" feel to it all.

**Newsflash**
Link Boy walks from aircraft to crew lounge in T2 with jacket reversed! Yup. Very embarassed and probably wouldn't do it again soon judging by some of the looks I got from other crew and customers. Ground staff thought it was a laugh! I think one took down my name though... Biscuit Chucker I will advise you the location of my termination party

The only comments I have received have been from frequent flyers who say it is overall a better look and crew seem to have a sense of pride about themselves now. Getting lots of people saying I/we look "smart". They must mean smart as in the dress sense 'coz I obviously ain't no Einstien

Also Nev and Von (whom live in a campervan by Hobart airport) said:
"Yous all look very posh dressed up to the nines and that. Morr-o-say did a good job I reckon. Cultural and everyfin' with the dreamtime pattern and that. It's so noice to see yous all get off the 717 jet service with the new posh get up. And the kangaroos on them luggage bags is very different and unewsual. The kangaroo brouche that your bosses wear looks just loike the one Aunty Norma weared to Church and that. Noice"

Galley Hag -
I thought of you as I walked through the terminal with the Qantas Esky / Day Bag. Not completely happy with using it but must admit it wasn't that bad.

Dr. Phil -
I have thought more about your comments re. the Rex uniform and would have to disagree. At first I also thought it was all a bit bumpkin' and rough but the crew look very sharp and professional but exude that country feel Rex is trying to convey. I think they have done a great job and I am yet to see a crew member that looks silly in the RM Williams gear.

....Farout!!!! You guys should try wearing mine!!! People look at you like you have no brains and live in the gutter! You should see what it's like when u get fuel from the service station on the way home from work! people take 2 checks on your credit card to make sure it's not stolen/forged and yet i only ever fill up to $10 worth of fuel! Remember the scary 80s colours?? well try imagining wearing fluro yellow all over (material that doesn't breathe). Working in steamy 40 degree heat!

Have to agree the new uniform looks really sharp. But have to ask about the jacket on backwards, why? is it lined with a bright colour or something - like BAs new one?

I think the ground crew look great in the new uniform, the blue print dress looks hot though i havent seen any of the print dresses at the airport yet.

Yes! The jacket is lined entirely with the Aboriginal print! When reversed it looks like Hugh Heffner's smoking jacket! Or a Lakemba RSL Gaming Room uniform!

Dr. Phil -
The 'System of the Golden Jets' (717 route network) does not extend to CFS yet! If I ever have a CFS slip you will have to put me in touch with them! Bev and Ron. What a scream!

I thought they were your comments re. The Rex uniform. Yes - the Billy Ray thing was funny! Maybe the should have had him do the launch!

Oh Honey, you are far too hard on yourself. Chill out. I have a pill for that...

Have Von and Nev upgraded to the Winnebago 3000 Series of Campervans yet? Last time I spoke to them on the HAM radio, they said they were looking forward to their big overwater crossing (on the Spirit of Tasmania SuperShip...aaaaaaaaalll aboard!)

Next time you see her Ditzy (cause I don't do Tassie anymore apparently...it's all about Qweeeeeensland), can you bring up a tin of her really noice Carrot Cake? And a bottle of Nev's home brew...it's a killer!

mr seatback - heard on the grapevine that you were also seen wearing the jacket inside out on a recent superjet 717 service out of a certain qweensland port.

I bet cloud 9 is even more cautious now with her uniform during safety demos with all those buttons on the dress. I think her pax got quite an eyefull last time when her blouse was undone, imagine the joy some of those old ministers to CBR would get with even more buttons on her dress undone !

Well you know what it's like on the Superjet service Skywalker!

Was that the TROPICANA EXPRESS service? Or the ISLAND FUNJET service? So many of us are in the holiday spirit, it could have been any one of us you know!

Question new QF uniforms... whats the verdict???

now that we've all marvelled at them... and you've worn them with pride (or pain) for a while now.... are they good? in terms of comfort... washability... packability... etc? are you still in need of some pockets? do you like them? would you prefer the old ones?

thanks ladies and gents... you're still looking fab!

smile!

Well Darls lets see...

They went back on their decision and let us boys and all CSMs have short sleeves. They are re-doing the tie bar as it falls off all the time. They have had to issue males with vests (which they weren't going to do). Long Haul crew no longer have to wear the serving jacket. Some bright spark is now handing out TINY wheelie bags to Impulse crew doing 3-5 day trips?! They are smaller than the Domestic ones some people got. I scored an International one which is over double the size of the TINY one. Oh and the Wings had to go because legend says some girl stabbed a baby in the face with the pointed end. I do have to laugh but I am sure it wasn't funny at the time

Also the wheelies are very heavy when empty so if you pack for anything more than an overnight you know about it when schlepping the thing around on a trip!

I am sure I have left something out in the above list of stuff ups but I think everyone is 'happy' (as happy as FAs ever are!) with the whole deal.

Oh except us Pulse chicks.... We don't know what our new gettup specifically entails only that it is not embarrasing or too casual (or so our managers say!). They also have not ruled out ties for guys... I think I am the only one who wants them anyway.

I hear the Jetstar ground staff will have a more casual look. They want the Cabin Crew to look professional. I do know that we will have wings and that they will be designed carefully so they don't all get recalled after a couple of months. I also hear our luggage is 'different'... What that mean I don't know. Perhaps I may need that knitted wheelie bag cover after all!

Lets just hope 'different' also applies to the design of the Day Bag. As you all know I am not a fan of the current style. Maybe instead of looking like an esky they could style them around Coles bag... You know - identifying with our customers etc ....

Hi Ditzy

Skysista and I had these illusions of retro glam for the Jetstar uniform

Orange hats for the girls with orange retro style bags with a silver star badge for the Jetstar insignia.

The hats would be like those Soviet military style hats. I saw a few chicks wearing white hats with a silver star on the front at The Family when they had a Ice/Winter themed night. An orange one with a star would look retro chic.

I hope this wacky idea doesn't scare you Ditzy hehe oh and you know those tie pin things...I find dozens of them every week on the floor!

In the famous words of Pauline Hanson:

"I dont liiiiike it"

Where does one start

Its hot...

If I lose my pen amongst the seat belts one more time ill scream...

I miss my pockets....

Forever losing my tie bar...

Shirt doesnt breathe... and dont get me started on trying to iron the thing..Ugh...

And it picks up everything... paxed the other day and used a blanket over my legs as I was cold.... In the words of lovely Julia Roberts... "BIG MISTAKE...HUGE"

Have given up on the name badge as well..too fiddly, not practical like the last one and destroyed by my finger prints.

Have had two replacements of the wheelaboard.. both times the handles have broken, meaning ive towed it along for 4 long days using the strap of the day bag... Hilarious to watch im sure... Im back to my old faithfull 7 year old Paklite that has never missed a beat, god love it

Anyway thats all..not much else to say about it...The men seem to love the womens version, comment on it all the time. On the positive side..its free
