nanaille,

you sure can. Just make sure you have it "translated" to the British equivalent. You may ask UK NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Center) NARIC (that took some digging in old papers to find ). I sent BA my diploma along with their paper stating the equivalence, and it worked. Or you can ask your Consulate.

Good luck

Nanaille, I work for British Airways f company and am in posession of Baccalaureat TEchnologique STL which is accepted as A level equivalents, no need to revalidate them as it would be illegal for a company not to accept these documents being in the EU. Revalidating or getting recognition is just a waste of time or money, a french bac is just as good as an italian one, or spanish one, or english a lev, that's one of the beautys of the European Union.
Hope this helped.
All the best

Hi!

it's my first time writing here... but I need you help. Just got a call from BA calling me for an interview next week. First I was not even sure if this could be a joke, since I thought they were no longer interviewing people.

They asked me about the certificates to bring along and I told them that I would bring EVERYTHING, although they are in Spanish (I'm from Barcelona). I know that this has been asked before, but do you know if I also need any official translation? I'll bring my secondary booklet as well as my university official papers. Do you think it is enough? Is there any way to fax them all these documents? I wouldn't be very happy to fly there and find out that they don't accept my documents. It's a waste of time for both parts.

Any reply appreciated.
Thanks thanks thaaaaanks!

First off, hello to you all! Nice to see a board with more of a UK presence. I use flightattendants.org a little but the people there are largely American/Canadian.

I went for an interview with BA at Cranebank on 17th November and was called with a job offer on the 20th. REALLY couldn't believe it. Didn't think I did well but oh, how wrong was I!!!!

I start work with BA on the 22nd December (why just before Xmas???).

Does anyone have any suggestions about where to stay, how to find out about flat/house shares OR does anyone have a room they need filled?

Thanks to everyone above for their advice about salaries and bidding. Very useful and appreciated.

I have so much to do in the space of a month - need to quit my current job (that's Monday), need to sell or lease out my apartment (don't want to sell it, if it can be avoided) and need to get accommodation in London. God help me!

Best of luck to everyone with their own applications!

Eddy - Come fly with me

One other thing guys and gals! (Well, OK, maybe two)!

1) Regarding the education certificates - these ARE vitally important. At my interview on 17th November, a girl showed up from France with her certificates though they were not what BA was looking for (didn't specify English and Maths). While she was not sent away, I would be very suprised if she was offered a position, due to the reaction of the BA staff when processing her paperwork. Very unfortunate.

2) Anyone who has done their training alread - how many people are typically in each training group? When do things like the pool excercises take place?

And another, just for good measure :

3) Anyone with any advice about where to find accommodation? I am looking to stay in Hayes, Hounslow or Hatton Cross if possible. Can anyone drop me a line [email protected].

Thanks, and fly safe.

BA recruitment policy for Asian (Singaporeans)

Hi there Wintertale,

I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I think all scheduled airlines only accept non UK citizens if they have the right to work here indefinitely. This means you can be a holder of a foreign passport but u must be able to work in the UK without the need of a visa.

However UK charter airlines can be even stricter because they require u to have a british or EU passport without which I dont think they would even allow u to attend an interview.

I dont know what the case is right now but i thought that Ba use to have Singapore based crew that did the sin=lhr=sin fgts? R they not doing that anymore? Maybe u cld call their recrtuiment department to c if they are still operating this base from Singapore.

I hope my information has helped u and i hope too it has not disheartened u in anyway.

Take care and do keep us posted if BA or any other airline advises you otherwise regarding their recruitment policy for Asians.

Hi Krisflyer,

thanks for your info. Yes, BA has a base in SIN but they have not been recruiting for a very long time... so I thought maybe I can try my luck by submitting my application online....
