MAM Casual CC II

Following on from the previous thread, I know it can be frustrating to wait for an answer guys, but three weeks isn't too long to wait. This isn't exclusive to MAM/Qantas; unfortunately it is the nature of the industry, and it is not at all uncommon to be waiting months for an answer. I was lucky in that my process was relatively quick - I got my yes call within a month of my interview, but it was still a good five months between applying, getting an interview, getting the job then commencing and completing GS. Be patient and remember that no news is good news. Good luck.

Sydney AD
anyone go to the sydney ad last wednesday???
|
hey, can whoever thats already completed ground school please let me know..
is training mainly done at the centre of excellence or at the jetbase? i was doing my online modules and it said a lot of stuff about traing at the jetbase and how to get there/get in etc.. but when i got my employment letter, it said training is conducted at the centre of excellence... so a little confused  thanks =) |
Job Confirmation
Hi Guys,
Can some confirm for me... at what stage in the process do you sign a contract? I.E When should you think about quitting your job? Am I correct is assuming that once you are accepted into ground school that is when you are guaranteed a position (assuming you pass g/s) Or after completing g/s could you still not be given any shifts? Thanks |
Hey I went to the MAM AD in Sydney last Wednesday, very professionally run. Nice group of people too, they did two group activity sessions before the cull. Didn't make round 2 though.

I was thinking the same. I think the EP's are done at the Jetbase and maybe the "theory stuff" at the centre of excellence. CCrew Wannabe sorry to hear that. Don't give up. Give it another go. Maybe try different airline. From my experience, this is the first time I ever apllied fo qantas, Virgin, Jetstar and got through with qantas, Virgin didn't even invite me to AD:mad: just send me email that I was unsuccessful and with Jetstar I was invited to AD but politely turn down the offer as I was offered ground school with qantas. Good luck |
So have read all the comments on what to expect on the AD
Smile, mingle, make small talk, dress the part, don't lead and don't be shy Any last words of wisdom? Am really looking forward to it :O |
Be yourself and act only how you would normally in the company of people.
Don't rehearse. It's different to what you'd expect. |
CCrew_Wannabe were you at the Melbourne AD?
I don't think many made it at all.... |
Rochelle I was at the Sydney AD. Heard anything from yours?
|
CCwannabe. I was at a Sydney AD early January, and no news yet/contact at all for anything. My refs were checked 3 days after my interview though. No one in my group has heard back yet and had any contact from MAM. Major backlog.
Maybe the smaller states might hear back sooner, although Im assuming it would all be going through the one head office. :) |
CCrew_Wannabe, ah have you tried out for any other Airlines?
I too didn't make it past MAM's morning group! I'm not too worried though, as it wasn't my preference, and I'm waiting for GS with another airline, I just went along with a 'why not' attitude, and their pay was better. ;) |
Cart Attack - I wouldn't whisper a word of it to anyone until you have been asked to do a medical and you are pretty certain you will pass this medical no problems.
|
Even after passing medicals you can be cut...happened a lot.
CartAttack - I personally wouldn't say anything until you have the job offered. As usually GS won't be immediately. Depends on the job though you have now. I know on my past job they would have been all happy for me to go for this either way. But if it's a job/manager that might not be so supportive, I personally would wait till I have a job offer. Given the nature of the industry, wait times and culling. |
Mel AD
I went to the Mel AD on 25 Jan, and completed both the referees check this week. Now keep my fingers crossed.
|
cartattack - when you are offered GS, you are sent the training contract only. basically MAM is just hiring you to start training with them. its not til you pass GS that they will offer you a Category C contract.
Thats as far as i know.. because in my employment package, i only received the contract for training. good luck to all those waiting to hear something!! im excited for you all =) remember no news is good news!!! update us if you hear :ok: |
My friend went to a Syd AD on the 16th Jan. References checked straight away and he's doing his medical next week. No news on a start date.
|
bbear75 that gives me hope!
My AD was then too. My refs were Checked 2 days after the AD. so maybe I'll hear for my medical :) too |
Sydney AD
I went to the Sydney ad last week, got through the panel interview and got an email the next day informing me my references were ''currently'' being contacted but iv been in contact with all of mine and NONE of them have been called... i emailed mam yesterday and got a response saying they were ''trying to get through and they will be contacted shortly'' i dont understand... how can it take that long? everyone else seems to go quickly through this process... i seem to be stuck...
|
Dicko 17 I am EXACTLY the same. Mine was about a month ago and still haven't heard a thing. What's the email address we can use?? The wait is so frustrating.
|
Dicko I wouldn't worry about one week! That's too soon. I haven't even contacted them and it's been nearly a month.
My refs were checksed right away but no word of medical. Don't stress. There's TOO Many applicants ATM. |
ground school begins today!!!!!
good luck everyone =) will try and update as much as i can when im not too busy studying hehe :O |
Yay made it through the day, was very nice, relaxed and lovely accessors, now the waiting begins

Tips for Mam AD
Hi guys,
What's your best tips for the assessment day ? Congrats to those who made it through and fingers crossed! Im attending the one on the 24 th Feb in Perth, anyone else going on this day? |
If you look back in the previous MAM thread Emma there are dozens and doezes of posts re AD for mam. Some recent a page back or so.
Good luck. |
Be yourself, they can tell. Dress the part, they like that. Smile mingle look through other posts they really really help, that's what I did and helped with nerves as you had a rough idea on what to expect. Good luck
|
Question.
It's been a month since my AD. I am not concerned about the wait at all. Yet I was thinking of maybe emailing MAM just out of initiative and keenness. Would they maybe like to see people take the initiative to email them re. Their position in the process or would they not see it like that at all. I will probably get a standard answer email but can't hurt I guess. Nt fussed about the wait time although it would be nice to know something! |
Sydneysider88,
I am in the same situation as you, and I did email them a couple of days ago. They replied right away, and I found out where I'm at. |
So still waiting then? Have you had your medical?
I may email them Monday and just see. |
Yes still waiting, and no haven't had the medical yet. You might as well - you've got absolutely nothing to lose.
|
Can anyone tell me, when do they check your swimming ability, is it during ground school? What is involved exactly, and is it very difficult?
|
Ability to paddle, the listening position, pull someone into a liferaft, ect check out some youtube video's.
|
So after this February round of interviews does anyone think there will be more in the coming months?
|
Thanks guys will do ;)
|

GOOD LUCK and just as Marly said - be yourself :) They can tell when you're not. And the best thing that helped me was just to be friendly with everyone as you're all arriving and waiting to be invited in. You feel so much better, and then when they shift you around tables chances are you've already broken the ice with some of the other applicants - so you work together heaps better and don't stress as much :) Really worked for me x

What happened with Virgin, I thought you was in for the next ground school?
With MAM dress the part - when they say business attire wear it - they was a girl there in casual clothes and she wondered why she did not get a call back. Mingle, smile heaps, talk to every one will help heaps with group activities and remember to talk add your two cents worth, say what your thinking about the situation. Good Luck |
For all you people waiting with MAM.
Got an email from them today, nearly a month after my AD. Simply said they are still processing and carefully reviewing applications and there will and can be lengthy delays at this time. Blah blah, they will get back to me as soon as it jumps up in the process. So don't you guys fret if you don't hear in a month or twos time! Even for a medical. Keep going with your jobs now and lives. Any contact is a golden bonus. |
Hey guys,
Just finished medical :$ apparently I have a tight right shoulder lol... bursitis... Physio said nothing wrong so I hope that was that and I get through... Fingers cross now waiting for my golden call :s Good luck to everyone else!!! |
I've got bursitus in my left shoulder and i got through
Don't stress! |
