tight slot.

uhmmm if you read it carefully i have never mention any hotel that crew stay at up there.. If you read carefully, i was asking if Estactic has been offered Altara tiger or JQ. and i am pretty sure that is not against the rule.

Estactic, ye i work for Tiger for about a year, let just say it will teach you how to be patience.. I enjoy the job it self a lot (except for training balls breaker that is but can be fun as well esepcially the slide bit haha) but working with any other company will feels like heaven after u leave there. However being Cabin crew i find is really rewarding plus u also got to have the blood for it. I work a few office job and checking in for another carrier, ye it was fun but not the same. but i can tell u is that u will know if its for you or not very early after u get online.

TightSlot 27th May 2012 18:03

... nobody was talking about you, or your posts: We were referring to somebody else's post that they had the good sense to delete having named crew accommodation

Sadly, your brain appears to have remained in neutral, as you have posted above in Text Speak and thereby earned yourself a thread ban: Doesn't seem to have been one of your better days all in all.

Question about how many hours a week

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know , approximately how many hours a week would we be working. I am aware that it's 20 days a month, but does anyone know hiw many hours a day/week?

Would appreciate any comments.

;)

Jecui 4th Jun 2012 10:08

It completely varies. I've had shifts ranging from four hours to eleven hours - that depends on what flights and how many legs you do. Some weeks you'll be flat out and others you might be on home reserve and not get called out at all (and hours vary from base to base too). It is relatively quiet at the moment across most bases, but before the quiet period I was working 140 hours each month since I started. Last month I did about 110, with almost two weeks of home reserve with no call out. You'll definitely need to keep this in mind when budgeting as no week is the same.

ecstatic26 4th Jun 2012 12:00

Thanks so much for that.

Are you enjoying your work there?

Jecui 4th Jun 2012 13:46

Absolutely love it! Best change I've ever made :-)

ecstatic26 4th Jun 2012 22:47

Oh that's good. ;)

Nervous about the swimming test

Hey guys,

One thing I am concerned about is the swimming test. I am a basic swimmer and not very experienced. For instance, I might find treading water a bit difficult , or dragging someone in the water whilst swimming. :(.

Are the trainers strict about this ?

AusCcrew 8th Jun 2012 15:00

Mate you will be fine. If you can swim all is good. If you are worried, book in for some adult swim lessons, just 2-3 to improve your confidence/ability. I'm a good swimmer but I can tell you now it was easy. We were in the pool for about 2 hours, and there is a lot of treading water, but you're sorta moving around etc. That wasn't tested, if you needed to just mention that you're not the most confident swimmer around and hang by the side in the down time.

As for the actual test, its about 20 m across the pool, any stroke, can take as long as you like. at the other end you grab someone and drag them. No special technique, and people float pretty well - they're wearing lifevests. all you have to do is grab their collar, and swim back, slow as you like, it really isn't something to lose sleep over :),

Hope this helps :)

ecstatic26 8th Jun 2012 21:44

Oh thanks so much for that :-).

So, you're in a life jacket even whilst treading?

AusCcrew 9th Jun 2012 03:53

Yep, lifejackets while treading water. And thats not tested, it's just impractical to get in and out of the water :P

ecstatic26 9th Jun 2012 04:22

Oh cool. Thanks a ton for that. It's much appreciated ;)). Have a fantastic weekend .

Danfromaus 30th Jun 2012 10:45

that was a very brief hold on recruiting

Jecui 2nd Jul 2012 06:27

More recruitment? :-/ It's been so quiet (many of us are not getting much work) and they seem to have too many staff already? That's just my opinion though. Maybe they have a plan we aren't aware of.

AusCcrew 17th Jul 2012 14:31

beau-tie & others starting soon,

You'll be fine! :P

Yes there is a lot of study, and it is necessary, when you get online you still won't know 1/4 of what you need to, haha, but the Emergency procedures section is important. 80% is the pass mark, but you want 100 coz really, it could save your life one day. good thing is, you can do it. The thing to remember is to get out and have a break sometimes from studying - it's not healthy to study round the clock (and not productive) buutttttt, don't be tempted to go out clubbing heaps, those who do find themselves treading a fine line and going day to day thinking 'am i gonna be cut?'. I think I had three decent nights out in the 8 weeks, so there is a little time to be free, but it's not a payed holiday - some people seem to think it is. :P

As for fitness you'll be fine, didn't see anyone fail pool day and thats the only physical day.

Best of luck! guess we'll see you guys online in a couple of months :)

what to bring

Hi,

you will only receive flight details a couple days before they actually send you.

For ground school bring ALL the business style clothes you own, (you will need about three weeks worth, also a pair of black flats is a plus.

Also bring some going out clothes you will probably have a couple nights on the town with the group!

Don't forget casual clothes as well, gym clothes, laptop, pens, notebook, highlighters, any particular foods you like....

Also when you fly over make sure you wear business wear, if there isn't many of you flying you will probably get upgraded to business class.

good luck, see you on board in a few weeks!
