QantasLink Cabin Crew 2023
Hi there
I’ve started this thread in the hope somebody is in the same position as me. That is..:waiting and waiting to hear back from TA after I did my online behavioural questions almost 8 weeks ago. The silence is deafening. Is no news good news? Apparently the AD is end of May in Brisbane.

thanks for starting this thread as the requirements for regional are different to international.
I applied externally for this position but in March, attended AD g22/03/23 from reading about other applicants and from my own exp, I know It can take several weeks at the beginning, but then progresses pretty quickly. I think it’s important to remember if you received the request for references, (and u have glowing references) this means you passed your AD interview and the most stressful part is over
If you receive the congratulatory email with a GS starting date, and all your forms have been returned on time, this is the email is the one to get excited about!

Hi Kylie. I haven’t received GS date. I’m waiting to see if I get a call to the AD which supposedly is end of May. I applied 10 or so weeks ago and have heard nothing. So a different situation to yours. Congratulations on getting this far. Is this for QantasLink?

I know this job means a lot to those who apply, and I would be really disappointed if I wasn’t selected.
but they havnt said no yet.
Not knowing is the worst part hey, even a “no” is better than waiting and waiting hearing nothing. Have you tried contacting the recruitment team? I have spoken with them a few times and they are really nice & helpful, and try to let you know what’s happening. Usually you receive an outcome via email, so at least u get an answer either way.
I applied on the Altara website, and the seek ad for cabin crew directed me to the official Qantas careers page. I sent multiple applications - to Rex, Virgin, Emerites and Etihad. after researching the UAE airlines, I didn’t bother with them as they are discriminative (as with all Asian and UAE airlines do).
They prefer cabin crew to retire at 40, stuff that. Luckily Qantas do not discriminate on age.
I’m not saying this to make you feel better, (but hope it does!) I was rejected by all the airlines I applied with, except for Rex and Qantas after I re applied a second time.
I got an interview with Rex, then they ghosted me. I first applied in 2022, then I saw the ad was still open so I re applied with a different email address
in 2023. I thought I’d have a slim chance due to my age, and didn’t bother researching properly so my first attempt was sloppy.
The second time I applied I added a cover letter and a recent customer service job exp. And In my letter of application, I addressed the JD properly.
If i was in your position I would definitely apply again, as I read they are looking to recruit and train 1,500 new cabin crew by 2023. I read that they are asking all recently retired crew to return to work, as they need to replace the crew who left due to Covid.
I do feel very lucky to have got to stage 3 of the onboarding, but seeing as my auscheck (asic) is yet to arrive, I already know I won’t make the May 31st deadline, so I‘ll have to wait until July 😌

Could you clarify please? The job no longer advertised so I can’t reapply for QLink but I found out the email address and just sent off a query re my application so thanks for that advice.
When you apply again doesn’t it say have you applied before? Did you say yes to that? I thought you had to wait 12 months. The other is Jetstar but I’m wondering what to answer re the question about applying before? It will then show up that I have 2 applications in progress. One QL and one Jetstar. Or does that not matter? So confused and it’s doing my head in. I’m in my fifties so don’t worry I’m an oldie but I have everything they’re looking for. Glad you got in to the July GS. You must be super happy.

You can apply for Qantaslink and Jetstar at the same time (multiple aplications) I confirmed this with TA when I applied for Jetstar and Qantas International. They also said that you can't wait to hear from both appplications i.e. if you get an offer from one you either have to accept it or decline, rather than wait to hear back from both applications. Say no you haven't applied before if you havent applied for that specific airline before, unless you have and you have been rejected or you declined etc.

I ended up being invited to both AD for Qantas and Jetstar. However, I only went to the Qantas one as I assumed the Jetstar process would be faster and I wanted Qantas International more. I progressed through refs, paper work, sec check and medical. Waiting to hear back now 🤞🤞

Kayd23: thanks for your helpful info. Just a question about height measurements. Jetstar need to be 163cm min or reach 212cm. I’m just under 163cm. Can you stand on tip toes to reach 212cm. Can almost get there flat footed but not confident. What’s the process here? Congratulations on getting so far. Good luck for the final stretch!

All good. Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure about height measurement cut offs. Maybe someone else can help???
On my AD during our height and reach test we took our shoes off and we were measured against this ruler thing and then the same with our reach (as I am 172cm I didn't have to stand on toes). I know some other people in my group had some issues being 1 or 2 cm different but they ended up continuing with the AD. By memory I think you can stand on toes but I'm not 100%.
They also measure your height in the medical done by bodycare, when I was being measured by my assesor he actually measured from my pony tail which was strange. Anyways, it is worth a shot to apply if you think you are about 163cm but if you are much shorter - it might not be worth it. Good luck with both applications

I just saw an ad for Jetstar, they are having an AD in June, I thought if you and thought I should tell you. Be Quick and apply, I’m not sure if it’s domestic but better than nothing right?
just google Jetstar recruitment 2023 and you’ll find it. I’ll try to find the link for you. Kind regards, kylie

Hi Kylie
thanks for letting me know. Just looked and it’s Melb. I’m Brisbane. I did apply for Jetstar last week and now just waiting. I got the thanks but no thanks from QantasLink last night so I’m pretty bummed. No idea where I went wrong. Hoping i did better on my behavioural online questions with Jetstar but not confident now. When do you commence your GS? Any news?

It’s so exciting to receive an invite.
Regarding the system glitch, if there is an email, i would contact the recruiters and let them know, as other candidates May be having the same issues.
I would take note of the days and time they offer you and attend the first AD, just let them know, make sure you keep a copy of the email to show them.
Don’t miss out bcos of a minor issue.
There is a Qantas style guide online on how to wear your hair (in a loose chignon bun, or pony tail) and natural palate for makeup, this is in line with the Qantas Style, not the Emerites style, (which is donut bun and bold lip)

to answer yr question, yes, I think it was 6-12 months wait but I was working so I don’t recall. It is confusing bcos when I attended my AD I thought I had applied for Jetstar domestic, not regional.
But those applicants for international have been pushed back to oct GS bcos of excesses. It’s common for big companies to hire more staff than needed.
I saw the ad for domestic Jetstar FA on the Altara website. third party recruitment labour hire for aviation jobs. I would also try Rex and Swissport too, I didn’t research and gave the most crap interview answers, prob why I didn’t hear back the first time. I was actually still at an AD for a Qantas customer service position, so thankfully I stuck with Qantaslink as I think they have busiest routes. No point applying for domestic if they already have a holding pool
ps. Sorry I didn’t reply sooner, I just noticed your messg. good on u for applying. I was one of 3 older applicants at my AD. I hope they got thru. I’m a bit shy and didn’t exchange details with anyone

my physio did the same thing! And yea, I stood on tippy toes, maybe that’s why I was put in the Qantaslink group when I’d actually applied for Jetstar. They are the sister company as well. I was invited to attend the international AD also but my self consciousness and self esteem let me down and Im kicking myself bcos I didn’t go. I was worried I might not be able to wake up at 3 or 4am to fly to nsw for work every shift, so I’m alright with domestic or regional.
I was told we can apply for international cc positions after 6 months, so thats something to keep in mind.
Thanks for your kind words, yes I am very grateful to have gotten through and invited to GS.

Successful at the AD! Now just jumping through all the hoops.
I also had an application with Jetstar and a few other airlines but the more I think about it short regional flights could be less draining?
Anyone have a link to the QantasLink EBA?

Good for you! Can you describe the AD and tips on what you think helped you pass?
