olivesandcheese I am not sure why you think Tiger pay more as both new contracts are Altara? I was under the impression the pay would be the same.

If you had the choice - I would without a doubt pick Jetstar.

If you decide after 2 weeks flying is not for you - you will not owe them a cent for your training (I believe with Tiger you would).

Uniforms are provided.

Airport parking is provided.

Meals on board are provided.

To me, there is a noticeable difference between Jetstar & Tiger crew.

Oh and also, Jetstar will not charge you to attend their recruitment day.

Well I would rather be on centrelink then tiger as you get payed more and I am sorry how can airline not provide there crew with meals and give them no opportunity to have a break during the day (it is AGAINST THE LAW to not give your staff a break free of duty for working 12-14 hour day)

Syd Recruitment Day

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could help me, I applied for Cabin Crew position through Seek.com in Sydney for Tiger Air sometime last week, and to my surprise yesterday I got an invite to attend the recruitment day in Syd the day after tomorrow (thurs 3 may). I was shocked but happy about the prompt response.
I don't have my RSA or First Aid certificates yet. So I'm wondering whether I should still turn up to the recruitment day or just don't bother cause they will turn me away before the day starts?

I can't take a day off work tomorrow as I have my performance appraisal at my current job. Also, it would take 2 days to complete the RSA and First Aid since both courses goes all day, so unfortunately not enough time.

Any thoughts or feedback would be much appreciated! many thanks.

Cheers

My partner has been to several interviews for airlines. She is ex- international airline cabin crew(overseas) Normally they don't mind if you have not completed your RSA or senior 1st aid but you must undertake to complete that training prior to being accepted into their ground school if you are successful through the assessment day and musicals etc. hope that helps

Olivesandchese: initaly tiger and Jetstar pay the same as they are both casual Altara contracts. Yes Jetstar do provide food but tiger provide a meal allowance in your pay. I heard recently that Jetstar are no longer hiring full time employees. I'm not sure if it is true or not, you would have to research more into that. But Altara offer full time with tiger and also further promotion into tiger.
Sky queen: you do not owe tiger anything if you chose at any stage that it is not for you, I had people in my group leave 3 weeks into training, 2 days after training, 2 weeks after and 2 months after. None payed a cent. We are provided with 3 shirts, 2 pants, one belt, one jumper and one jacket on graduation day. Then a further 3 shirts and 2 pants every year there after. It is true we pay for our staff parking. And we are not supplied with meals, instead a meal allowance, which I personally prefer the money compared to food I probably wouldn't eat (I'm very picky
Skyhighqt: no they won't turn you away for not having those certificates. Just let them know your more than willing to obtain them at your earliest convenience. I wish you all the luck

Thank you asphalt_jungle for your response, you have been a great source of information. Another question if you don't mind, how long do you have to wait till you go to ground school after the Recruitment Day?

Thanks in advance.

skyhighqt

When I went through I was due to start ground school 11days after my AD. I heard word of another GS a month after so I told them a fib and said I needed to give 4 weeks notice at my current job (I just wanted a final Christmas and new years free of work) They were understanding and put me into the following group.
Although I have heard of cases where groups waiting up to 6months (during the grounding and the most current group that are about to start)
If your going for SYD bases they'll push you through faster as they need experienced crew up there. I hope they push the MEL groups through because we need FA's desperately. They are even calling out CM's for FA duties.
Hope that helps again good luck and feel free to ask as many questions as you like.

Sorry to hear that but they did say they would only contact the successful applicants. I even got a reply to my RSVP

Parking is $2 per shift last time I used it at Melbourne, so I wouldn't get too down if they don't offer it like Virgin does.

Qantas own their car park so of course Jetstar is free.

Sydney Airport Parking for Tiger Staff

Hi All

Would anyone know what the cost of parking would be for Tiger staff parking at Sydney Airport? Are you charged per shift?

Thanks in advance

Leopardgirl

I'm unsure of the cost of SYD parking for crew but MEL is around $70 per month or $8 per park if you don't use it often. I heard rumors that the SYD parking was going to be more than MEL we've finally won the battle for the company to pay our ASIC fees, next step is parking and staff travel for Altara crew :P
