Thank you for your feedback. So it means that it is highly recommended for me NOT to apply for the upcoming AD or OD even though they have not been to our country since last year Aug and I haven't had the opportunity to present myself? you see if I applied in Sept last year that does not add up to nine months( 3 months to see if they'll get back to you and 6 months for waiting to reapply again) if maybe they decide to come in June. I an a little confused here

Hey guys!
I've been following this thread for a while and the tips & comments are so giving to read!
I really want to join the Emirates, but this last year I haven't had the opportunity to go to an OD in my country, Sweden. Also, I've been studying. Fortunately, there's an OD coming up in Stockholm, where I live, on May 19th and I've decided to go an give it a try!
Thing is, I'm graduating this summer and I've already applied and got in to a university in Spain for a semester, meaning I'll be in Madrid studying between Sep-Dec.
My question: How do I explain this for the recruitment crew? Would this be a problem? Do I have to mention it if not being directly asked about it? If I'm lucky and get accepted, will they wait for me to finish? How long is the span of time between the OD and the DOJ?
Or, should I just try to attend an OD in Spain somehwere in the fall? As I understand, I can't re-apply, if I get rejected, until 1 year later. Is it worth it to try now in May?
Thanks in advance!

@ namiik
Hey there
I can give you a personal answer on those question based on my friend's experiences working for Ek and based on this forum :
How do I explain this for the recruitment crew? & Would this be a problem?
This is a delicate matter.
I've read that in November they've made a big airplanes acquisitions , so they kinda need cabin crew fast to fill these spots. I know the recruitment teams are currently present more often in different countries. Bottom line, they need cabin crew fast.
But, from what I've know, you can tell them when you actually can join EK and arrive in Dubai (meaning 2-3-4-5 months) , but this is kinda risky if you ask me.
If you pass FI (final interview) and knowing that they hire people fast it's kinda risky if you ask me to tell them that you need to attend "a semester of studying "
It's just an opinion remember that
Do I have to mention it if not being directly asked about it?
Don't worry, they are very smart they will ask you this, and if not this question exactly , another question like "future plans" , "where do you see yourself in 5 years" , etc.
And if , somehow this aspect evades them, you got to complete a tone of forms where you will definitively need to state how long until you can join in case you get selected
If I'm lucky and get accepted, will they wait for me to finish?
This is a question for EK Recruitment Team, honestly no one knows for sure they're Rules and Policies.
How long is the span of time between the OD and the DOJ?
Depends on the country and especially on you.
Usually the OD , AD and FI take place between 3 and 10 days (my answer is based on people I know personally who made it and are currently working for EK)
and after that it took about 3-4 weeks tops for the GC (golden call) and another 30-45 days until DOJ.
To sum it up : about 90 days tops from the moment you had your OD until your arrival in Dubai.
There we're some cases in which people waited 4-6-8 12 months although they we're succesfull but we are not talking about exceptions here
Or, should I just try to attend an OD in Spain somehwere in the fall?
It's your choice. If you ask me I give anything to be a cabin crew with EK (including a semester of studying)
As I understand, I can't re-apply, if I get rejected, until 1 year later. Is it worth it to try now in May?
If you are rejected at an AD you can apply after 6 months, if you are rejected after a FI you can apply again after 1 year.
Bye for now

Emirates Interview
hi wannabe's,
as an ex-wannabe and an ex-EK crew, i wrote an entry today about grooming for your interview, and little about what you can expect grooming to be like when you're accepted into EK. If you're interested in reading it, it's:
Emirates Open Days: Looking good for your interview « JOELLE CHAN
but remember, it's just based on my observations. hoping it helps someone out there!
good luck~

Let me get this straight- you want to join, but then get Sep-Dec 'off' to study?
Sorry not going to happen. You cannot take leave (except in special circumstances) during probation (first 6 months of employment). I have been told by EK recruiter that from the date you do your medicals, they are only valid for 6 months. So, should you be accepted after doing the medicals, you would have to join before that. Yes some people ask for more time, but if you want to join more than 6 months later it's not possible, you should just attend recruitment closer to the date you know you will become available to start. (Say, 1-2 months before finishing your studies)
There is no way on earth you would get a semester off if you already joined, there are crew here for years who would not get that (unless it was unpaid leave, which has already been given this year, and never for that long)
Re-think your plan, attend an OD much later, if you attend in May & get in, you would have to join before Nov.

Age Limt for Emirates
According to a post I read Emirates doesn't really care about your age. It's all about how you present your self. One person said that someone almost 40 didn't even get interviewed! The person said we want you so no need to interview you! So I really don't know where people get this thing that Emirates doesn't want people over 35. They want maturity and I'm saying this to say that younger people can be more mature than older people. The bottom line is that there's no upper-age limit. Check the website and see for yourself!

Facing some online application form problems
Ok, I asked that before but I'm going to try to do it once again. Is anyone else facing some problems with the online application form? I mean when I click on the Education&Training field I cannot fill the records of my studies, which means I cannot add my degrees...the only thing I'm asked to do is to sign whether I held a tertiary education and how many years of secundary education I had. Is it possible that it's only that and that it has been changed over the past months? Anyone?

age limit and open day invite
There is no need to receive an invite to attend an Open Day. An Open Day is exactly as it sounds like - the doors are open to everyone. I was only asked to register online after passing the first two rounds, because when you're hired, they send you your accomm info and e-tickets online.
Age limit-wise, no they won't tell you that the max age is 35. It is much preferred though - yes, they actually do say that. Think of it as a guideline more than a rule.

My final interview was April 4th and my joining date was 2nd November. It is possible to join way after your FI but it was hard to delay it. Once you joined forget about getting time off (except for leave of course which is 2/3 weeks max)
