What am I waiting for?

Hey guys, 16days after my final interview my status changed to "approval in progress". then 2 days after that, I received the grooming/tatoo email and sent it back the same day. Now it's been a week and there's no other changes with my status.

Should I be worried? Am I worrying too much? Or do you guys know if they're trying to get ahold of your references before you get the GC.
(Once again, that's if receiving the grooming email really mean it's a "yes" after.. especially I don't have any tatoos)

I'm scared that maybe they're waiting on one of my references and that's the reason why things are taking a long time? ..

Please let me know. All the best for each and everyone of us! THank you thankyou guys!

Approval In Progress

Thank you missrena, my status was just changed to Approval in Progress, 2 weeks after FI. Should I take this to mean that I will get the GC?

also, how is life for Arabic speakers in Emirates? Any stories?

Thank you!

Referencing

It seems the referencing is the final stage if they actually do it as i believe they put trust in the recruiters as no matter how good a reference you are changing Country, Culture and everything else so it would not be as essential as in this or your home country!!

Sabmas :)

It can take anywhere from a day up to 2 weeks (sometimes longer) for them to approve medicals.

Hi ya' all!

Just saw that Emirates changed the medicals. I've uploaded the old ones. Do you think I have to upload the new ones?

new medicals

Although I uploaded ALL the medicals last tuesday, today I got this email from them:

"Kindly be informed that there is a policy change in the pre-employment medical forms. Please download the revised declaration form form candidate portal, complete it and upload the same for medical approval. If you are unable to upload under medical links you may upload the medical reports under `Quick Links / Upload / Other at the earliest. Regards CC Rec Admin Team"

Do they think I will go back to all the doctors?!?!?!? Or do I just have to sign first page and appendix 2 and upload them, since this two changed?! I really don't know what they meant with this email...anyone else got it?

Hi everyone!

Hi there.I am from Malaysia and I would like to attend an OD in Malaysia but unfortunately EK appointed agent has specified that the position is only for Mandarin or Cantonese speaking candidates. How can I apply for this position with EK as I am keen to work with EK..Can anyone here please give me some suggestions? Thank you guys......Cheers!!

You need to apply in a different country, or wait for an assessment day (where you can apply online and be pre-screened). You will be turned away unless you speak Mandarin or Cantonese.

Question Assessment in Africa

Good day all. I live in Africa and unfortunately for us we have a recruiting agency. I applied online 3weeks ago for the Port Elizabeth Assessment day and my status still is Applied. I'm beginning to wonder if i was supposed to apply straight with the recruiting agency as well but the recruiting agency (REACH) does not seem to exist. I really want to be patient but last time i applied for the JHB assessment, my profile stayed as "Applied" i never got the rejection email or the invite and eventually it changed to "CLOSED" Does anyone out there have any info regarding the PE AD/OD? if so please help

If it's an open day then you can just turn up at the venue. If it is an assessment day and you don't receive an invite, you cant go and you will have to reapply at a later date.
When you apply it says, 'if you don't hear from us within 3 months then assume you have been unsuccessful', so you are not necessarily going to receive a rejection email.
There also is nothing wrong with an appointed agency, I would say they're probably less strict...

Hi i will be visiting DXB in November, Can i just go to the EK HQ for an interview?

I heard from an ex-EK guy i met at a QR interview that you can just go to their Dubai office on any working day for a walk-in. Is that true?
He mentioned something similar about EY (will post it in the EY Thread)

Also, for anyone walking-in to their DXB Centre is Fluency in written and spoken Arabic + ability to swim 25m unaided Mandatory?

Hey blanketbird don't carry everything to Dubai! Try to go with the most essential things that you can't possibly buy there. Then when you go on leave or something, take the other things with you. I don't think you'll be using much of climbing gear at the very beggining of your career at EK, for example.
Best of luck!!

new medicals

For what they told me ALL you have to update and upload again (if you already uploaded ALL the "old" forms) is the first page - Declaration of health form and Appendix 2 (2 pages-ex medical history form) which is also new. Both of those are just forms YOU have to sign, no one else so it takes like 5 minutes to complete...after I uploaded that I got my final approval in 1 day!
