@EnjiW: Hope you're staying close by!!

@pokes: Do you think it sounded bad the description of the building?? I don't think so, it could be worse. Some people are in the middle of nowhere. And I've seen some pictures of this new kind of living room and it looks really nice
There's a girl from Uruguay also joining on the 19th, that has got this building!! She's coming on my flight, that arrives on the 20th at 23:00 local time.

Text speak (or txtese, chatspeak, txt, txtspk, txtk, txto, texting language, or txt talk) is a term for the abbreviations and slang most commonly used due to the necessary brevity of mobile phone text messaging, in particular the widespread SMS (short message standard) communication protocol. (Source: Wikipedia)

An xmple of txtspk abbrevi8s 'you' to 'u' n 'your'/'you're' to 'ur'. ROFLOL

Due to the lack of proper spelling and sometimes proper grammar and punctuation, text speak makes the speaker's point quite ambiguous sometimes and you get rambling paragraphs. Not a pleasant read!

It's the first thread in the forum:

All Those Waiting For The Golden Call

For what it's worth, this Monday it will be 10 weeks since my FI, my status has been 'approval in progress' for 8 weeks. I have sent in photos 4 times!I know the RO's on first name basis, I even received a call from a South African RO last week and she spoke Afrikaans to me to explain exactly what they are looking for with regards to the photo's. Because I'm obviously getting it wrong...

What I'm trying to say, and this is my opinion, and only that, it was in no way communicated to me by EK RO's, is that if your status has changed to 'approval in progress', it means they like you and want you to be successful, thus you had a good interview. But it does not merely depend on who interviewed you, when they have completed your file, it gets sent to their seniors for approval.

As the RO officer said to me in Afrikaans (translation); "You look like two different people on your casual and professional photo, I do not want to send your file to management for approval and then it gets turned down.I apologize for this, but they are very specific about what they want."

Even though I have been waiting for what seems like forever, I feel its better to wait, let them do their job and you get in. Another 3 or 4 weeks of waiting, in terms of the rest of your life WILL NOT KILL YOU.Rather take the time to consider a plan B, go on with your life, the sun does not rise and set at EK.

So for all those waiting good luck and keep us updated!

Medical Examination Form

Dears,

could anybody kindly help me with posting a Medical Examination Form from Selected Candidates Portal? I have completed all the previous steps but still cannot download the forms. And I have already tried different computers and different browsers.
My email address is [email protected]. Any help would be very appreciated.

hi everyone! this is my first time posting at this thread. i find this thread very helpful and intresting. i have been reading this thread for few days and im lovin' it, especially mari who's been putting so much effort in helping others.

anyway, im going to the open day at china this coming august 1 and im so nervous and confuse whether to go or not cause it'll cost me heaps of money. i am currently here at hong kong as a domestic helper, taking care of a 6 month old baby. i'm from the philippines and im getting a visa tomorrow for china. i have to pay few $ to the agency plus all my expenses. i only earn a little money but im still going to try applying for EK. i was just wondering if any of the ppruners tried measuring theirselves at home cause i tried mearing myself on tip toes and i could only reach 210 cm using a metre stick, i dont know if thats accurate though...any tips on how i could reach higher? lol.. im still gonna try my luck.. i only have money to loose but so much to gain if i get the job!

@ mari: i was just wondering if i would have good enough background cause i studied in australia for grade school, volunteer for international social service wherein we help ethnic minorities, domestic helper, caregiver wherein i had OJT within the hospital taking care of pediatrics, geriatrics, icu patients and people with disabilty, cantonese training, took up nursing for college and knowledge and skills on first aid? do you think that would be okay? id love to hear an opinion from someone who's been a cc for ages and helping others who's been aspiring cc. thanks

Health problems AFTER the final approval

Hi, guys...
Its my first time posting here... this thread has been really useful for me

Well, I went to an open day, was selected, did all the medicals, got the final approval, resigned my old job...
Was fine, everything ok with no problem at all...

It happens that one week before my DOJ my gums decided to retract... o_O
I didn't go to the dentist yet, I'm going as soon as possible, as today is still saturday... And it's not visible, it's in the back of the bottom front teeth) but it definitely doesn't fit in their 'high periodontal health' standards.

What I would like to know is if anyone has or know someone who has had the same problem: a compromising issue AFTER the approval, something if you had before wouldn't help you to get approved.

I'm afraid of don't say anything to them and it become a big problem once I get to Dubai.

I would like to know from the more experienced (than me) what I should do. Should I contact them, just few days before my DOF with a new dental report?

@ wannaflyaway

Welcome in the club, although my DOJ is in two weeks, my artificial front tooth which I broke when I was 8 began to crack (after over 15 years of silence) but fortunately on Monday I hope it'll look as perfect as it did before. And I won't look like

So noo worries, fix it asap and enjoy

Question Seattle FI on July 11th

I still cant believe that I got rejected by Emirates.
I just got the email tonight. I am so disappointed and of course sad. I didn't know what went wrong during the final interview. I thought everything was so great.

The other guy got rejected too. We were asking the same question. What we did wrong. Did I say something wrong or the recruiters just didn't like us?

For people who passed the FI, could you share your experience on how you made it. Or...

Could anyone give me a possible explanation why we both failed this final interview? (could it be the IQ/EQ test?)

We both had made this far...and now it's like a bomb.

Do you think it's worth trying again next year?

We were in Seattle for Final interview last Sunday.

I am sorry to hear about your rejection!
Its hard to say, possibly its everything altogether, could be your personality test (employer uses those results to rank all the candidates) or something?!?
Do not take it personal sometime its not you its just that they are very particular on what they are after AT THAT STAGE.
Please try again next time my friend got rejected 5 times and now she is working over there with them...(rejected after the FI)

I'm still waiting for an answer myself and hopefully it won't be a rejection email

I attended the OD in San Francisco. May be 100 people showed up. Everything was good...we were shown a video presentation etc. and then divided into groups. Later we all took the English test. I think I absolutely did fine in the English test. After that we were told to wait and told that some of us would be eliminated.

Unfortunately I was one of those whom they eliminated. So heart broken, but life goes on... Just wondering...what could it be...everything seemed to go well. I thought I was well-prepared.

Did anyone else have similar experiences? I'm sure people make it in their 2nd or 3rd attempt...

Good luck to one and all
