Nothing whatsoever to worry about. There are plenty of deliciously curvy female crew at Flybe and many other airlines. Ability to do the job to the required standard and a positive attitude are far more important. Relax, do your homework on the company and the job, and best of luck with the assessment.

Loads of pilots on the 'other' side of the door at the moment, including CPL holders in the Flybe hold pool. Not an issue at all, so long as you can meet the required standard. It's all useful experience and keeps you close to the industry.

As Otto says. (I wouldn't call size 12-14 chubby by the way!) Flybe take the rather grown-up view that attitude is more important than dress size. Someone who is enthusiastic, conscientious and has good customer service skills will always do well.

Off the top of my head, there are at least 5 CPL/IRs working as cabin crew in my base alone. One is a Flybe mentored cadet waiting his turn for a type rating course, but the others all applied and got the job with no previous connection to the company. And yes, they were up front about their licence in the interview. In the current market, it's one of the best ways into the industry – you'll be working with pilots day in day out, be among the first to hear about future recruitment, and gain valuable airline experience for your CV. (Oh yes, and you can do the walk round for us when it rains).
Best of luck to you both.

Flybe - Recuruitment
Hi. I am wondering if anyone can help me. I am heavily considering applying for the cabin crew vacancies at birmingham aiport with flybe.
Can anyone tell me or give me an idea
1. What are flybe like to work for as a company (people/rostering/benefits)
2. and also what the pay scale is.
This would be a great help.
Thanks

Flybe at Manchester?
Do Flybe have a considerably large base, and a lot of operations out of Manchester?
Is there likely to be a recruitment drive there in the future at all, just asking because that is the base in which I would prefer in my future applications.
Thanks for your answers

Dude, welcome to pprune!
if there was any recruitment within flybe, than you wouldn't get into Manchester I think as the new recruits get the least populair bases.
happy hunting

Have just been invited for an assessment day for Cabin Crew at BHX in March. I've been told to get up to scratch on company info and be snappy with a calculator as there is a maths test......has anyone been on one of these assessment days, is there anything else I need to know or do??
Also i'm quite worried I am 40 (although v young at heart) and most folk on this forum wanting or actually applying for crew seem to be nearly half my age. Am I going to be too old for the job?? And are their claims on the website (a direct career path expect to be a Cabin Manager in 12 months) really true?? Sorry a lot of questions but this is a big move for me, I am currently a teacher!!

GF,
I'm not CC but do work for Flybe on the other side of the door, so I'll not attempt to answer what your selection holds for you.
However, as far as your age is concerned, it really shouldn't be an issue. Whilst the majority of crew are probably younger, there has been an increasing trend lately to employ more mature candidates, especially those with experience at other airlines or within a customer-facing industry. Personality, attitude, ability and flexibility are the key.
As for the claim for advancement to senior crew within 12 months, it's possible, but not necessarily normal. It all depends upon the base. Somewhere like BHX is a large crew base, and has a steady turnover of crew, so opportunities do come up failry regularly, but at smaller bases (or in the more far-flung corners of the Flybe empire) turnover is very low and opportunities may only come up every few years.
Either way, the job is what you choose to make it. There are many happy & long-serving employees here, but there are also those who never stop moaning about what a miserable existence they lead and how much better it would be somewhere else. Pretty much like any job really.
Good luck with your application.

OT, thanks for the honest reply and info. If successful my preference is to fly from BHX so its good to hear that promotion could be quite quick. Before teaching I worked as cabin crew and in airport ops so hopefully these experiences will help me out on the day. And after a few years in the classroom I can't see anything about flying again that I think I would or even could moan about!!!

Flybe Belfast cabin crew??
Hi all, hope yous can help me. Im considering applying for Flybe based at George Best Airport Belfast. There is very llittle information regarding salary. I am currently in a perm job with good pay but I really need all the info I can get before making any decisions.
Can anyone please advise me what is the basic monthly/yearly pay after tax?
Also I have read of other paid allowances in other airlines, is there any additional allowances on top of flybe salary and if so how do they work? (I dont understand all the cabin crew speak yet )
Also, I was wondering what the morale and day to day work is like within cabin crew for flybe? I am currently in a very stressful and pressurised job so i am hoping for a career change for the better

flybe senior crew
Hi there,
Does anyone know the approximate take home for senior cabin crew? Feel free to private message me.
They are currently recruiting for senior crew out of isle of man and guernsey. If anyone can shed any light on the approx take home amount, basic and perks it would be appreciated!
Thanks

Re Belfast;
Unclipped, take home pay for a new CC member in Belfast is approx £1100 after the addition of commission and duty pay. It is not one of the better paid bases because on-board sales are quite low compared to other bases. This is mostly due to the average sector being around 45 minutes on almost exclusively domestic UK routes. Passengers don't really spend much in that time.

I hear from an old friend still at SOU that if the current pay deal is accepted, any newbie will be charged 1000 squid for 'training costs'!!! It seems the ryanair model is being applied! Anyone else still in BE heard this???
