Whatever you do dont go to Qatar, its really not great at all. Emirates arent taking on rejoiners at the moment, I reapplied back in January and got a letter back stating that they wouldnt even look at it!! I did 10 yrs as a Senior and also have a lot of friends that pulled strings!!! CCMS etc. Etihad is worth looking at, i have applied and got through awaiting for a DOJ at the moment. The only thing is you dont get money downroute however, its still young, there is money in Abu Dhabi not like DXB and also why go backwards not forwards. Etiahd is still young so i think promotion will be quicker, and also its somewhere different but also easy to get to see your mates in DXB. Might be worth thinking about, a lot of the trainers are ex EK.

True, im not even going to wake up for Qatars open day in Madrid on the 22nd, at all. What if they pick me? Oh no please. On the other side i do need a job, and i cant wait to start flying again.

At this point, yeah i would prefer Emirates cause i miss my people, but i admit that Emirates vs Etihad is just a little details ping pong. No allowances, but fast growth. And little things like that. So if Etihad calls first, im there.

How sad is it the way they treated you when trying to rejoin "we wont even look at it". My CCM is not a CCM anymore, so she forwarded my emails to a new CCM and to the person in charge. I dont have many corporate contacts, but they did tell me that i just have to wait, and even though it's been more than 2 years out of the company, they will give me a call once they start hiring people. What i dont know is if they will let me "rejoin", or if they will make me "reapply" all over again (open day, interviews, clearance and all that luck contest).

Hi there, my friend rejoined two years ago and they made him do the process again but don't know if it's changed now. When he applied they told him to apply as if he was starting from scratch!!! He had worked for them for five years previously. Also, don't forget Etihad do get expenses just not downline, they get them in their pay packets at the end of the month same as Q.R. Mucho suerte!!

qatar and other airlines

Aeromare,

It seems to be logical to apply for Qatar, I'm sure they would take you with the flying experience right away.

However, they bond the crew for 2 years. (Some deductions from the salary, I heard but I don't remember details.) And there is an agreement between Emirates (maybe Etihad, as well, no idea!) and Qatar, that you need to wait 6 months to join Emirates after resigning from Qatar.

Mari, thanks for your advice. Now, i dont think i want to apply for Qatar. Things i have read in this forum make me believe i wouldn't be able to agree with some of their rules.
Don't get me wrong. I did live in Dubai, and i am a very respectful person regarding cultural differences. Now, one thing is to respect cultural differences, and another is to be dictated what is allowed or isn't, capriccio like. I'm talking about the supposed curfew that Qatar crew have to respect. Home by eleven? Why oh why! Just... WHY! WWWWHHHHHYYYYY!

why

QR Open Day Bucharest - August 22nd

I went to the Open Day in Bucharest on Saturday...

Arrived at 8:30, the Hilton's lobby was already packed with people...over 210 persons attended, about 70% women... At 9:15 the doors have closed and the movie started, for roughly 8 minutes... Then the recruiters started to talk about life in QR and then answered questions.

At 11:30 we started to hand out our CV-s, we answered 2-3 questions and that was it. We were told to wait for the phone calls until 16:00, it was a little curious at it was already 13:00.

I didn't receive any call...so i can only talk about day 1

Good luck to you all!

kuwait and qatar airways lifestyle

So I've heard really bad stuff about Qatar airways here and that lifestyle in Kuwait is not that great... any current or ex Qatar CC would like to comment on this? Im finding myself torn whether I should give it a go turning up to the OD or it would be a waste of time?

Hey, Ivosagres.

Thanks for replying. My doubts are:

: Do I need to apply online in order to attend the Open Day Recruitment in Singapore? With my CV attaching a postcard-sized full-length colour photograph? Or I can just crash the OD without applying online? Bring my CV,documents etc?

: Do I need a passport-sized photo?

: How long does OD usually lasts?

-Lara Derita, Singapore.

Hey, Woofywoof!

You're from Singapore? Btw, I'm trying my luck for the OD this sat 29 August 09 in Singapore. How was your OD?

Regards,
Lara Derita.

Hello, bunny_gal,
I'm from Singapore but not departing anywhere. But I'm trying my luck for 29 August Open Day Recruitment at Hilton. What can I expect at the OD?

-Lara Derita.

To Lara Derita

For Open Days, no need to apply online since it's open to all wanting to take their chances to become a CC. You can bring some photos with you and attach it to your CV for the interviewer to remember you. Generally, ODs last one whole day for all aspiring CCs but you will only be given jusr 2-3minutes to "sell yourself" to the recruiter. You will be asked to wait for their call within the day. If you're lucky enough and they call, you will be asked to attend the Assessment Day which is usually the following day and it takes one whole day if you will make it to the final cut. If not, then you might asked to leave even after during lunch. Assessment Days are by invitation only and you will be given further instructions once you've passed all the "tests".

Good Luck!

want_to_fly:

I'm not an excabin but If the OD is in Your city why not to try and hear about life in Qatar (not Kuwait).
Opinions about the country and airlines are different, read previous posts, so maybe it will help
Good luck
As far as I know they are the most restrict but maybe for You it's not gonna be such problem.

Lara Derita

1.You don't need to apply online for an OD
2.Yes You need photographs, full sized and passport size
3. It can be three or even four days If You will pass all,
first day will be a big cut

All the best

I'm departing Sydney late on 28th August, then Singapore-Doha on 29th - begin training on 31st!
Do you have the same training start date?

Anyone else joining us?
Especially anyone from the Brisbane interviews in June?

hi guys,

found out that i have the sickle cell anemia trait. This means i am a carrier but do not actually have the condition. This is why my CBC was a bit haywire but normal for someone like me in anycase. The doctor assured me it is not a problem at all. I was just wondering if anyone knows whether this is a problem for qatar?

Any info will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone!

I also attended the Open Day in Bucharest and I've stayed for the whole 3 days. Now I am waiting for that 2-3 weeks to pass and I hope I'll get my confirmation.

All I can say about the interview is that it was really nice. The recruiters were absolutely fabulous.

The most important thing in my opinion is that you have to pay attention to what they are saying. If they tell you to be back in 5 min., you must be back in time. Or if they tell you how to dress up, you listen to them and do exactly how they advise you.

Another thing that is very important to them are the photographs!!! Most of the people were asked to bring another picture for the final interview. It was quite hard to run around in a city that I'm not very familiar with and make some other pictures. So this is how it should be done:

Full length photograph - 10cmX15cm or 4"x6" (postcard size)
Passport photograph - 3.5cmX4.5cm or 2"x1.5"

- colour photograph against a plain(avoid white) background)
- warm open smile
- stand facing the camera with one foot slightly forward and hands relaxed by the sides
- ensure that your photographs are clear. avoid photoshopped and polaroid pictures

Dress code:
Ladies:
-business suit with knee-length skirt and skin coloured stockings
-hair must be neat and tied back if long
-do not wear neck scarves
-court shoes with heels
-conservative jewellery

Men:
-business suit, shirt and tie
-neatly shaven
hair to be well groomed(not shaven or spiked)

Good luck everyone!

For Sydney Stewardess

Hi Sydney Stewardess

I was at the Brizzie interviews in June. I'm ex cabin crew and made it through but am still waiting for medical clearance. I needed to repeat my CBC as I had a chest infection the first time around. I sent in my second report about 3 weeks ago now. It was fine but I'm still waiting. Hopefully will see you there.
