There was a time many years ago when we trained a number of Nigerian CC for a joint BA / WT codeshare and while they were at Waterside they were issued with Diners which the guys and girls promptly took out that weekend and racked up about £30,000 of debt. Rumoour was that BA took the cards back and are still waiting for their monies. Such happy days.

SuperBoy and airbus777 are right. There is a limit of 100.00 per day at both LGW and LHR. Sorry, I forgot to mention that!

Can anyone help? Have been offered a contract with eurofleet LHR base. Will I be able to regularly commute from Scotland. Could anyone possibly post some up to date eurofleet rosters?

Thanks in advance.

EF 3 March

Hi everyone. Anyone else other than myself, Dmed and G-GMGH starting on Monday? And those who started in Jan and Feb, we have not heard from any of you recently. Im sure you must all be very busy studying hard. Please give us some feedback at some time if you can. Anyway, see some of you at Cranebank very soon. All the best.

Commuting to Scotland?

Hi newman1,

Did you get any response from your queiry about the possibility of commuting from/to Scotland?

I would like to do the same as I cant afford to live near Heathrow at the present time.

If anyone would be kind enough to post an example of E/F roster that would be much appreciated. I know it varies a lot but just a random sample would be great. It would probably be cheaper for me to commute by Easyjet and book flights well in advance. What do you think folks?

Many thanks for your help. Happy Landings!

Guys,

Iv never been EF crew only WW however I do know that there are a lot of crew who do commute on EF. However there is no point in posting up a roster here because the EF rostering system is all based on personal bids. If you are good at the system and understand how it works it is possible to create a roster whereby you do a lot of nightstop trips allowing you to commute with minimum of cost. However you must also be aware that your bids may not always pan out and you could end up spending many a night in a LHR B&B!

When you first join I would very much suggest you rent somewhere near LHR for the first few months until you settle your feet. The last thing you want when you are on your probationary period is to miss trips because of your commute (it can and will happen). Also you will not get your full concessions until you have been employed 12 months so commuting could become very expensive as you only have a limited number of hotline concessions per year!

Hello Caledonian Girl,
I am on E/F course 5th May, and I am returning to BA after a break from flying. I don't know anyone who commutes from Scotland on E/F, but many do on WW. I am really looking forward to meeting you and everyone else who is on our course....don't want to give my age away but my son is on WW course on April 21st...I guess it's in the blood! Feel free to PM me if you like.

Regards, landlady.

Thanks for that, I was under the impression that E/F was 6 days on 3 days off...looking at that roster, it seems this is not the case. I have just looked at another roster E/F fleet which was clearly 6 on 3 off. How confusing!

Hi AMS-LHR,

Thanks so much for putting that roster on. I understand as some previous posts have said it does depend on what you bid for. However just being able to see a roster does help. Could I ask you one more question please! What is the difference between a standby and available day?

Thanks.

Standby is done from the airport from a given time until you are either used for a trip or sent home without being used after 6 hours has elapsed. There is no allowance if you are not used. An available day is one where the company can give you a trip, but they must warn you for the trip before 2100 the previous day. If you are not used, you have an extra day off. I hope this is still correct.

Pretty much spot on landlady. Only thing is with an available day you are able to check your duty from 6pm the night before or if still on duty at this point then you can check after your duty day has finished (between 45mins to 1hr 30 mins after landing depending on operated flight).

Airbus777

Thanks for that...things have changed for the better - I have not worked the bid system yet, when I last flew for BA it was talked about but that was all. I'm about to return, so I guess I'll have to get my head around it!

Landlady welcome back to BA!
You are very welcome!
The bidding system generally works ok for me,like everything it takes a while until you get your bidding"tweaked"!when you find a way of bidding that works for you then stick to it!its fab now on EF to be able to bid,so you can choose to bid for whatever suits your lifestyle....some crew bid just to do there and backs, others bid for trips, you can also choose what time you want to start work, some people love early starts, some dont....of coarse you will sometimes get things on your rosta that you dont want but just grin and bear it as there are a lot of financially rewarding flights to do on EF!!
Have fun!!
