Jeppesen Errors and Incompetence

I have been subject to so many examples of errors and incompetence from Jepp Frankfurt that I am now in constant touch with their so-called "Quality Coordinator" trying to get things set right.

I know that my experience is far from unique, and I have already gathered together a fair portfolio of problems that other GA pilots and owners have had.

Would anyone who has examples of incompetence on their part, whether administratively or in data please send them to me so that I can collate them and pass them on.

Please reply by eMail, so that I can collate them more easily.

TIA

I have had an off-forum discussion with someone that fears that this is a witch-hunt. It absolutely isn't.

It is an attempt to help a powerful monopolistic supplier of safety critical flight data put procedures in place which prevent it having such low standards that the GA community suffers.

The intention of my post is to garner information by private eMail which I can then present to their Quality Department to help them improve their service, to their advantage as well as that of GA. I certainly do not wish to see anything actionable on the forum.

Please continue to send your messages (I have already had a couple of good ones) to [email protected]

Katrina,

I totally agree!!! In the attempt to better their product which in turn betters our lives/careers, you have my support.

Their total lack of quality control is a perfect example of what companies SHOULD NOT try to duplicate!!!

Good Luck,

Joe

Katerina,

Why dont you lead with some examples?????

From my own point of view, I draw whatever plates i want and Jeppesen publish them within a week or two!!!

Talking

The one area we have had serious problems with is their Flt Planning dept, ie routeing and acceptance of flt plans. 75% of the time their route is rejected and as a consequence we have to try manual route changes etc etc.

Just more hassle when you least need it esp for a short notice flight etc. Despite constant pleading to get it right you end up talking to someone in the US middle of the night knowing little about obscure Eastern-block country you are trying to overfly!!

We have now binned the service and use another which is far superior and works 95% first time and costs roughly half.

Happy Chief Pilot!!

I understand Katerina (who I know well) may be hesitant to give precise examples, because no-one wants to start a fight between Jepp (who have much $) and PPRuNe (who have no $ at all), but the issue is to do with administrative problems in their Frankfurt office which reach such proportions as to cast doubt on whether they have any procedures in place at all, let alone the strict procedures required by a monopoly supplier of flight critical data.

The probs that K refers to are all about quality of service and not the quality of data.

Some of the eMails that have come from this appeal and from similar appeals on other forums (fora?) demonstrate a lack of efficiency that really beggars belief, but, worse than that, a consistency of errors which make these errors (all in Jepp's favour) seem more than coincidence.

I am trying to tread a careful line here, as you can imagine!
