Insecticide

What do you use ? Are there cans that suit the size of our airplanes, preferably as a one shot application ? The one we have is a multi shot can, which just says its good for an A320 cabin size as a one shot application. There is no guidance on how much to use in a very small cabin as ours is (C680)...

Not sure what destination you are working to - but - the Australian and NZ authorities publish disinfection requirements for various size aircraft cabins, including biz jet sizes.

Follow this link Biosecurity in Australia Schedule of Aircraft Disinsection Procedures for Flights into Australia and New Zealand
where you will find an online calculator along with a PDF of the procedures, sprays to be used and spray rates as applicable to aircraft of various sizes.

If the link gets blocked, google 'aircraft disinsection procedures' and follow the links to agriculture.gov.au

Have a good trip

it is really a paper work exercise IMHO for small planes; some countries want to see the sticker other not. These cans were not designed for our type of planes and air-conditioning . I used to use one shot small yellow can, just to cover the paperwork, I wonder how this thing would work with external bag compartment; wide open 30 inch access door, etc...

We have enough to deal with gamma-rays, organophosphate gazes, etc no?
just to add pesticides in our blood stream 3 times per flight..

..keep the sticker in a proper place..

from the WHO website:
Aircraft disinsection

Many countries require disinsection of aircraft (to kill insects) arriving from countries where diseases that are spread by insects, such as malaria and yellow fever, occur. There have been a number of cases of malaria affecting individuals who live or work in the vicinity of airports in countries where malaria is not present, thought to be due to the escape of malaria-carrying mosquitoes transported on aircraft. Some countries, e.g. Australia and New Zealand, routinely carry out disinsection to prevent the inadvertent introduction of species that may harm their agriculture.

Disinsection is a public health measure that is mandated by the International Health Regulations (Annex 2). It involves treatment of the interior of the aircraft with insecticides specified by WHO. The different procedures currently in use are as follows:

treatment of the interior of the aircraft using a quick-acting insecticide spray immediately before take-off, with the passengers on board;
treatment of the interior of the aircraft on the ground before passengers come on board, using a residual-insecticide aerosol, plus additional in-flight treatment with a quick-acting spray shortly before landing;
regular application of a residual insecticide to all internal surfaces of the aircraft, except those in food preparation areas.
Passengers are sometimes concerned about their exposure to insecticide sprays during air travel, and some have reported feeling unwell after spraying of aircraft for disinsection. However, WHO has found no evidence that the specified insecticide sprays are harmful to human health when used as recommended.

We have always used Callington Haven brand sprays - small cans that fit in nav bags/small recesses and meet the AU/NZ requirements having the right chemicals and serial numbers (!) for the completed forms after arrival. The lids and cans are colour coded for ease of identification. They are available online, and have distribution offices throughout Asia. FWIW.

Years ago, we had a bothersome fly buzzing around the cockpit, so we hit it with a good shot from one of the top of descent spray cans. Didn't.Do.A.Thing.

I understand that the blue/green cans contain different ingredients that serve different purposes - which might explain why the fly kept buzzing...

If you`re not behaving, I´ll get that "sting the Globaldude" SB from Cessna....

But back to reality: there is the proof flies can´t tell one pile of **** from another... our Cessna seems to draw em in huge numbers... Or do I need to take a shower ?

Just carry an empty can in the airplane all the time, and one or two full ones if you want to really show off! .

I see a few cavalier responses adding up to "screw the regulations, how can I get away with not doing the work."

That's a nice way to really piss on your fellow citizens, guys. Quarantine procedures are no joke: they protect billions of dollars of business all around the world. Avoiding proper quarantine procedures is basically dumping a big pile of **** on someone else.

To everyone else: keep up the good work!

How often the air is recycled in a small cabin like a GLEX or a Falcon compared to a Boeing or Airbus thingy ?

Baggage access in flight ? Catering storage...

More important, the frequency of the biz jets flights from an infested area compared to airline's network.

All these specifics makes some procedures useless on a biz jets environment , but if it was the only one...
