learjet 60 xr vs citation xls

Hey,

I am currently flying a Hawker 400XP in Brazil, but the company is thinking of buying a new jet. At the moment they are looking at the xls and the 60xr.
We really like the 60XR but we heard bad thinks about its RWY performance, normally we fly to big airports with long runways, but once a month we go to a 4000' strip, 2000 feet AMSL with 30+ °C(86+°F) temperatures.
The destination is about 300NM away and there is no fuel available, so we need enough fuel to fly 600NM+reserves.
I was wondering if there are any 60XR pilot's that can tell me if the lear 60xr can do this trip any day of the week???
For the XLS this is not a problem, but we also do some 1800NM missions up north, so we believe the XLS is not the right plane for the job.

Hope anyone here can give me some info on the 60XR.

Thanks in advance

Willem

We considered the sovereign, but we think it's a bit out of our price range.
The company wants to buy a young second hand plane with few hours, so for the same price as the 60XR or XLS we'll get a much older 680 with a lot of hours on it.

4000´RWY, 2000 ft elev.....No chance for the Lear, and if I am not mistaken it will work out for the XLS only if you fly private.

Rgds!

Listen to GSL. Sovereign every day of the week.
Some of us are, plainly speaking, addicts, cjboy. And to give you some hope: the Sov is a CJ on steroids...

Short field, hot/high/tankering is where the Sovereign excels.

TODR 2000ft/ 30°C / 4000ft TODA= 29500lbs, thats 800 short of MTOW and 2400 more than MLW (27100) LDR would be 2890 ft.

Commercially no go too -> 4000LDA means 2395 unfactored, you´d meet that at 20500lbs. Too little fuel for the return.(ours has a BOW of 18318)

But if he uses a Beechjet right now, I doubt they go there commercially...

Any day, not only sundays....

And the APU really does keep the airplane warm or cold and - as a bargain - it does so in the desired sense...warm outside: cold inside and vv.

I see what you did there!

Had to put a load of power on the other day to make the exit at Lugano....followed by a Hawker who only just made it before hitting the grass TR's out and powered until it came to a stop!

It certainly never gets old touching down at 85 knots in something that weight?.

His dudeness is right, most of the times we go to the 4000' strip with 4-5 pax in the BE40. Landing is not a problem, but during takeoff we are really pushing the envelope.
