And how about the salaries?
Don't want to generalize again, but have heard that bizjet salaries are at least
50% more than airlines?
I mean, it's all about the money after all.

Have a look at ppjn.com - itīs a good starting point. Donīt confuse freelance rates and permanent contract pay. Donīt get me wrong, but I wonder what your background is. I mean, you will certainly know that not all airlines are the same when it comes to salaries and that there are a lot of factors involved. It is the same thing for the bizzjet world, I dare say. However, as I stated earlier, I have not been in this area of the aviation business for very long.

Airline to Biz

Gocigio

I made the switch last year widebody to bizjet,I agree with most of the posts.

Airline flying=FAR easier as you have as stated all the back up done for you, turn up order the fuel go,turn up go to hotel.

Biz Flying=I found the transition OK but it is hard work and there is far less in the way of SOP and standardisation practises and you have to pre flight and post flight in all weather.Far more cash readily around almost too much after the airline "cost cutting" culture of recent years.

Having done 18 airline years all over the world in big jets I believe any airline pilot will have plenty of experience but the Corp pilot will bring insight into smaller fields and the private operation which is invaluable. Most of the folks are great I have a met a few "difficult" characters but universally they all have something to prove and aside from this you need a good owner and a good team- Great fun.

I make slightly less money than at the airline but I did it for change of lifestyle(no more 14 hour sectors on my jet) and plenty of time off on our jet.I do miss the big crew though sometimes downroute.I feel considerably less fatigued than with ULH.

Dont be afraid and dont be put off but now is perhaps not the time to move keep posted and stay informed.Be humble and you will have no trouble.

Good luck.IC

Went from Biz to airline............... if you like flying then its Biz if you enjoy paperwork then its A/line................ When the world sorts itself out will be looking for the fun again..........although would miss the crew down route element. Actually miss being involved in the whole operation, even putting engine covers on in the howling wind and rain................Any one need a former Lear/HS125 driver?

There are bizjets and there are bizjets...as there are airlines and airlines.
Start as a Co on a Citation 500 and you usually earn WAY less than with the airlines (there are huge differences in the airline paycheque as well, so if we talk a real pay airline like Lufthansa or Emirates or the like you will earn maybe a third.)
Fly a Gulf 5 or a Falcon 7X for a company and usually you get about the salary of an Airliner.

If someone looks for a longhaul airliner to fly his Gulf or Global, he will pay propably as good as a 'real' airline, but usually youīd get less.

I was in ATP school with a guy who is now a 8 year veteran F/O at LH shorthaul on the airbus, he makes a little more than I do as chief pilot on a Citation Sovereign with 19 years experience.

Thank you all for your comments,
very helpful,
as most of you said I will wait with the transition to the Biz world because I have secured 738 seat, but certainly in the future I can see myself in one of those beautiful bizjets
happy landings!!
