OK

I have Nat King Cole, curtailng it gives Nat King? I can't make much out of that.

Lightning Mate 19th February 2012 10:35

That's why I have gone for North Coates.

The thread is becoming more and more crypic.

sabredog 19th February 2012 10:52

R.A.F. ACKLINGTON ?

Lightning Mate 19th February 2012 11:02

We've had that somewhere - I posted it.

NutherA2 19th February 2012 11:09

:{ Sorry LM I haven't seen the original entry, NATKINGCOL (-E) to give Acklington is what I had in mind.

Sabredog has control.......

Lightning Mate 19th February 2012 11:15

Sorry LM I haven't seen the original entry

That's because the original thread disappeared for some reason.

I was thinking Acklington (where I did my basic training) but rejected it because of that without thinking! :\

Open House

Lightning Mate 19th February 2012 12:20

Well. I've still got two challenges up on other threads, so I'll not take the OH.

Tankertrashnav 19th February 2012 18:44

OK - taking up the OH

Answer:

Cured Old Spot, for example.

Question?

(Airfield)

evansb 19th February 2012 21:06

Is this a place name that also happens to have an airfield, or is the name specific to the airfield ? i.e New York as opposed to Laguardia ?

Tankertrashnav 19th February 2012 22:02

Definitely known to most as an airfield, I assume named after a nearby village. UK

sabredog 19th February 2012 22:04

Gloucester/Staverton Airport?

Tankertrashnav 20th February 2012 07:23

You've got the Gloucester connection, but that doesn't help you geographically speaking. Think about the animal (or its by-products!)

NutherA2 20th February 2012 07:59

CheltenHAM?

Tankertrashnav 20th February 2012 16:00

Getting close - define "Cured Old Spot, for example" and think of the question that can be answered with that phrase.

NutherA2 20th February 2012 16:11

Wattisham? OH if correct.

Tankertrashnav 20th February 2012 17:02

What is ham? Of course, well done!

Open house has been offered.

Lightning Mate 20th February 2012 17:34

Wattisham has been done before as well - I posted it.

Made a reference to the Singing Postman and the Kray brothers.

Still, with the loss of the original thread, nobody could know that!

NutherA2 20th February 2012 18:04

This thread seems to be running well and is therefore gettig steadily bigger. Could we persuade someone brighter than me to construct (& update) a "What Cryptic Aircraft, Manufacturer & Airfield Lists" sticky to help us to avoid the double entry problems?

Meanwhile:

If TTN’s Old Spots aren’t available, this Antipodean Airfield would provide an alternative product for curing.

Lightning Mate 20th February 2012 18:10

Feel free mate. Mel has his work cut out with the other four.

I do all the congratulations cards for every x1000 posts.

To me, antipodian indicates Oz or NZ.

Oi A2, would you mind posting at 2 point size. Dunno why you always use 1 point......
