You have control

evansb 25th July 2013 00:11

Thank you. The ANF 131 was a one-off powered by a Renault engine.

Here is the next mystery aircraft:

I'm making a bold assumption that the front is to the left because the guy in the picture taking a photograph would probably want the "pretty" end.

Single or twin?

Noyade 25th July 2013 09:44

DC-3 Brian?

evansb 25th July 2013 10:51

Yes, the left side is the front. Sorry, not a DC-3, but closely related.

Lightning Mate 25th July 2013 10:55

Russian?..

evansb 25th July 2013 11:28

Yes, Russian.

Sorry HQ, does look like it but it's not a Hustler :)

Not too sure whether it's a mock up or the real thing, but I do know that this particular aircraft never flew!

SincoTC 28th July 2013 21:17

Hello HQ,

Myasishchev M50
No, we have had that before and the M-50 appeared in a famous flypast over Moscow in 1961, note that I did say above that this particular aircraft never flew, keep digging :)

AfgAirOps 28th July 2013 22:34

Myasishchev M52?

SincoTC 28th July 2013 23:01

You have it AfgAirOps; it is the Myasishchev M-52 Well done :D

What was intended to be the production Bounder, fitted with the engines it was designed for, the Zubets 16-17 turbojets replacing the original Dobrynin units of the M-50 "proof of concept" prototype, whose lack of power rather limited its preformance. One M-52 was completed but was never tested in the air before the program was terminated due to the development of the ICBMs and the priority assigned to the Soviet space program..

AfgAirOps has control, please post a new challenge or declare an Open House :ok:
