Lightning Mate 16th July 2013 13:51

The headgear and clothing suggests very much Russian.

Lightning Mate 16th July 2013 14:36

If it is Russian, then how about a Poliparkov?

However, I can't find a pic with that exhaust system.

MReyn24050 16th July 2013 15:50

The aircraft in the photograph is a Polikarpov, as you say. It is a U-2VS fitted with a trial silencer system.
You have control David.:ok:

Lightning Mate 19th July 2013 11:35

Thank you Mel - sorry about the delay.

MReyn24050 20th July 2013 14:25

Interesting and intriguing engine. The engine appears to be slim with lower air intake which would indicate a turboprop but I do not think it is a PT6, possibly a Garrett AiResearch TPE331

Interceptor 400 ?

Lightning Mate 21st July 2013 10:38

Correct engine Mel.

I'm not sure what Bri means by the Interceptor 400.

It is the Garrett AiResearch Turbo Comanche 400.

Therefore I feel it fair to award it 50/50 to both of you, but I think Brian is closest.

MReyn24050 21st July 2013 12:16

Thanks David, I agree Bri's choice of aircraft:-
Interceptor 400 Pirep

although not the actual aircraft was certainly far closer than guessing the engine type.

Okay then...here is the next challenge:

MReyn24050 21st July 2013 19:05

The engine is a Pratt & Witney XT57 installed in the nose of a C-124C Globemaster II.

Mel, you are spot on.:ok: Well done! Your turn.

MReyn24050 21st July 2013 22:34

Thanks Bri, a very good challenge. Here is the next:-

MReyn24050 23rd July 2013 18:32

This aircraft is also French.

Karlark 24th July 2013 04:06

High wing single engine civil monoplane?

MReyn24050 24th July 2013 08:24

Lightning Mate 24th July 2013 09:22

Morning Mel.

MReyn24050 24th July 2013 12:55

Not a Dewoitine, David.

evansb 24th July 2013 16:46

Wibault 12 Sirocco ?

MReyn24050 24th July 2013 18:11
