There are quite a few differences to this image - but possibly the Chablis?

Perhaps Meleagertoo cares to explain his American Royal clue?

Thanks Bear. I'm incapacitated at the moment, making my bookshelves somewhat difficult to reach.
Open House.

It is indeed, your control!

My apologies for not replying sooner Bear - left early this morning. Unfortunately nothing immediately to hand, so will have to make the inevitable reply:

OPEN HOUSE

India Four Two 8th Nov 2021 18:12

Here's a type with an interesting history. I had never heard of it until last Friday.

Herod 8th Nov 2021 20:46

Jean Batten by any chance?

treadigraph 8th Nov 2021 20:48

I'd not heard of it till this Monday - the engine led me in the right direction! Rather attractive...

OUAQUKGF Ops 8th Nov 2021 21:19

Is that an Italian pennant on the tail ? Almost good enough to be related to the Miles Family.............

India Four Two 9th Nov 2021 03:12

Herod,

Nothing to do with Miss Batten.

O Ops,

Full marks for pennant spotting. I thought it had a lot of Miles characteristics as well.

OUAQUKGF Ops 9th Nov 2021 08:39

Ambrosini S1001 Grifo ?

Planemike 9th Nov 2021 13:07

Think the guy that designed it may even have seen a Percival Gull beforehand.......!!..

Haraka 9th Nov 2021 16:38

Jean Batten's Gull used to be in the back of Percival's Hangar at Luton in the 50's

India Four Two 9th Nov 2021 17:04

Ambrosini S1001 Grifo ?
That’s it. The one in my picture was the subject of a SAREX I participated in on Saturday. The organizer took some good natured ribbing for having chosen such an obscure aircraft.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....d606c0ee6.jpeg
In 1949, a Grifo (Griffin) flew 1800 nm from Senegal to Brazil in 17 hours. The crew took off with 800 litres of fuel on board - normal capacity was 140 litres! I calculate they were about 40% over gross!

OUAQUKGF Ops has control.
