G'day Karlark! :)
engine test bed |
Yes he bloody well would!
Good call Karlark! Ken, I hope you toss and turn with nightmares all night long... http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8974/15692836.jpg |
G'day Noyade. Your illustrations are great fun. :ok:
I'll take your post as the confirmation to move forward since Skytrain's light is out. This one should be easy after the last one. :) http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i..._2008/97-2.jpg By the way, Happy New Years to everyone! |
Must be an engine test bed... Boeing 757? Ken, I hope you toss and turn with nightmares all night long... Have a good day Graeme, and enjoy what's left off yours Karl:ok: |
Thanks Ken. Sorry for jumping ahead, I though you might have been out for the night, but anyway, g'night. :ok:
|
Karl, I'm sure it is easy, but I have not got anywhere with it! Have gone through the more obvious candidates, like ATP, IL-114 etc, lots similar, but none identical. Stupid question....is this something we would normally expect to see with a 4 bladed prop? My initial thought was a low wing, but there again I'm wondering if it may be high and I'm misinterpreting the photo...I only say that because I've run out of low wing candidates!

Good afternoon Ken,
It will be easy if you look at the very last challenge before this one. Very similar aircraft & purpose. :) Less cropped view; http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2008/97a-2.jpg |
'artnoon Ken, morning Karlark :)
Just a hurried lunchtime stab and go at the moment I'm afraid, as very hectic at work with all the gang back today, I hope some of the SC "gang" come back soon too! I think that's the Pratt & Whitney Canada owned Boeing 720-023B Flying Test-Bed ?? I don't see PT-6 type exhausts, so suspect it's mounting a PW100 or a PW150 engine designed for the Dash 8-Q400 ?? Sorry, but it'll have to be an Open House if correct, as I'm in the workshop all afternoon and not too sure about home connection, it's been off and on all weekend and the current high winds aren't helping much. :( |
Karl, and here was I thinking no one else would sink so low as to face a night of eternal nightmares as declared by Graeme:). I'm sure Trevor is correct, particularly as I've now found the exact photo.
Interestingly according to Aviation Week its a PW150 turboprop, but the intake is totally different to those on the DHC-8Q-400, which is what was putting me off. Nice one Karl:ok: |
Yes you are correct TC, it is the Boeing 720-023B test bed aircraft. In this case with a PW120. :ok:
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...2008/97b-1.jpg Open House per SincoTC. Edit; Thanks Ken... my turn to not sleep well tonight.. :( :). |
Thanks Karl,
As it's still my OH, the wind has dropped and my connection seems to be working I'll take it back. Try this one: http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...allenge028.jpg I don't sleep much anyway ;) !! That said, it should be an easy one! |
Just a cynical thought mate. :)
Is this a B-47 with the starboard fuselage-mounted Orenda Iroquois? The 'wing' is the horizontal stabiliser? easy :ok: |
Nearly time for bed mate; good film???
Well, you've got the easy bit, it's another podded engine flying test bed :)! Not the Orenda Iroquois B-47 though; Reg posted that early on in this thread and I got it and this one is much younger. You can just see one of the test engine's original "wing-mates"! BTW, it's also been used "somewhere", but they were MUCH more generous with their cropping. Oh dear, I forgot you can't check their archives now! Sorreee :E!! Sleep well and sweet dreams :ok: |

If you see it, tell me what the yellow floatplane was AQ fairly recently yes, see my comment on SC ;) |
This email is to let you know that the speed of your BigPondŽ Broadband service has been slowed because you have reached your monthly usage allowance. Do you happen to remember if I got it right? :) |

Yes it is a jet and the test engine was mounted outboard of one of its original twin engines, it also had a T-tail :)
|
Just going back a bit. Are you saying Morten showed the test engine? Or are you simply referring to the carrier aircraft?
