Yes, absolutely right, a unique museum piece

Noyade 4th Jul 2012 23:01

Thank you for that. Will look closer later today. Cheers mate. :ok:

French?????

Harley Quinn 5th Jul 2012 11:12

Definitely not French

Ridge Runner 5th Jul 2012 11:27

Javelin T.2??

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 13:15

No luck yet. Roof construction looks rather flimsy to support anything really heavy?

Harley Quinn 5th Jul 2012 16:09

Not the Javelin

Depends what you call heavy; this weighed more than 10000lbs empty.

Harley Quinn 5th Jul 2012 21:33

This is not a European aircraft and, to be honest, this view is particularly rare. I hadn't realised that there were two separate jet pipes.

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 22:01

G'day mate. :)

A unique manned aircraft?
Single jet engine?
Bifurcated exhaust.
Rarely viewed from this angle.
At least 5 ton in weight.
Hanging from a museum ceiling.
Not in Europe.

In the USA?
Experimental Fighter?

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 22:05

One more thing. :)

Am I seeing a vertical fin and two wings in the photo?

Harley Quinn 5th Jul 2012 22:18

Only example of this manned aircraft
2 gas turbine engines coupled together
Displayed in the USA (hung from a ceiling)
Empty weight more than 5000kg
You can see the trailing edges of a vertical fin and mainplanes

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 22:19

this view is particularly rare
Maybe because..?...

The Convair XFY Pogo tailsitter

Harley Quinn 5th Jul 2012 22:31

Spot on, so used to seeing it vertical the exhaust is usually hidden.

You have control.

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 22:39

Thanks Harley.

A wankers thought process...
A Saro Princess exhaust system hanging in a Brit museum.
RPV of some sort.
Grumman Tiger.
Time for beer.

Thanks for the clues. :)

Onward...

Onward...
...and upward. Very high-flying aircraft. ;)

Karlark 5th Jul 2012 23:32

Must be the Grob G 850 then?

Noyade 5th Jul 2012 23:38

Tis indeed Karl, your control. :ok:
