Oddly, given it's location, there don't seem to be any international flights scheduled from here

dook 11th Sep 2019 16:06

You said it's a bit of a dump.

Did Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid get killed here ?

ExAscoteer 11th Sep 2019 17:07

C-130 with the props parked wrong.

Asturias56 11th Sep 2019 17:23

Dook has the correct country - the Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia - but it's not San Vicente

Sucre?

When we were there we were told it was the Capital.

Yacuiba

Usually Asturias takes at least some photo’s from the Google Earth location photo’s.
The Hercules with the floppy propeller blades is from Yacuiba.

I regret to call OH (if correct)
Busy day again tomorrow

PS,

I first went for an aircraft ID on the quite specific Cessna Caravan/supervan with green top and white belly.
I still cannot find any photo of that one.
Is that from your private collection?

dook 11th Sep 2019 21:29

I cannot believe it's Yacuiba.

Nothing matches - runway and markings, ramp, tower, buildings.

Check Google Earth.

I am with you on the runway, the ramp with boxes, the tower and the Caravan.
But I could not find any match on those in Bolivia.
For the other photos I have a match on Yacuiba.

Let wait and see what Asturias had in mind.

I believe that is not a Caravan, but a Quest Kodiak.

Sorry guys - I was dragged out last night.......................

It is Yacubia................ right down in S Bolivia - mainly an oil town built up 1960-1980

A likely story signore!

Can I also query the aerial views - also the blue terminal doesn't seem to fit?

dook 12th Sep 2019 08:52

The reason I didn't think it was there is that this the GE view of Yakuiba.

I am now somewhat baffled.

Asturias airport picture in 16804 looks a bit like a Flight Simulator picture. The trees at the horizon seem too sharp w.r.t. to the rest of the scene.

dook 12th Sep 2019 09:40

Even more baffled. The terminal building:
