photobucket ghosts

Dear Sabre, If you refer back to post 1401 - SHO's pic of Multan, there were comments about a chap who was seen walking across the approach, (a significant clue, edited out by SHO) who was there one minute and not the next - ie. SHO had edited him out and posted, but seemingly at a later time, he's been restored without SHO's knowledge or intervention - and then been removed again.

I have just had a similar experience with your pic of the Electra - ie the identifying stuff you sno-paked out was miraculously revealed to me - thus unfairly giving the game away to me (I mean - unfair to anyone else that is) Now your de-identifying sno-pake is back again.

Both relevant pics are via Photobucket and I wondered whether there is some common factor in editing or if it's some undesirable, unwanted or heretofore unknown Photobucket glitch that could be avoided.

I assume for this purpose, that it was not an intentional temporary clue sowed by you to help us mortal clods. LFH

Duckbutt 21st Mar 2012 17:42

Is it Essendon?

sabredog 21st Mar 2012 17:58

Not Essenden,Duckbutt,but correct continent.

http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/...PRuNe/023A.jpg

Lordflasheart 23rd Mar 2012 00:01

WWII B-17 USAAF base, UK.
Can't work out if the photographer is downwind or on finals though. LFH

nvubu 23rd Mar 2012 08:10

LFH - you are correct so far.

Looking east, and downwind according to the windsock.

Here's another view of the buildings in the centre of the previous image.

Open House if correct.

nvubu 23rd Mar 2012 13:43

Yes it is Ridgewell

I thought I'd share these other phots of the aerodrome - I've provided a link to a high res version of each one.

If you compare this image with today, I don't think there is one building remaining.

I've got photos of most of the built up areas , and a number of other aerial shots. If anyone wants to see more, let me know and I'll post them under a new thread.

Olympus is correct, and it is Open House

Russell Gulch 23rd Mar 2012 23:06

Many thanks, a sad knowledge of the aeroplane type led to a narrow field of airfields at which to look.

Try this one, guessing like most of mine it will not last long.
