Homebuild!

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 14:04

Ta muchly - just been in class for a while.

Ridge Runner 22nd Feb 2012 14:12

It looks like a Fw190 replica with a second wing?

Edit: An Aerocad machine???

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 14:16

Looking at the gear struts I would think it's smaller than it may first appear.

In comparison, the radial looks big though.

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 14:36

Not really...over 2,500 kgs in weight. Wingspan over 30 ft.

the radial looks big though.
Its a fair size and not what you would normally expect in a homebuild job.

It looks like a Fw190 replica with a second wing?
Interesting:) But no connection whatsoever with the Fw.190 and not by Aerocad.

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 14:57

Is it a cantilever?

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 14:59

Is it a cantilever?
Yes it is :ok:

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 15:01

Let me know if you want another clue :)

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 15:14

Later maybe - it's gozome time mate.

Maybe there will be another clue awaiting.

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 15:55

Clue....all is perhaps not what it seems ;)

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 16:22

Often the way around here!

Does that mean it's more modern than it looks?

Good thinkinghttp://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ies/thumbs.gif...but no photo in Aerofiles.
The inference is therefore that is described ony.

A Rotec engine?

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 16:34

Does that mean it's more modern than it looks?
Actually that wasn't my meaning, but it so happens it is a modern design:ok:

The inference is therefore that is described ony.
Correct:ok:

A Rotec engine?
Nope...try Pratt & Whitney:)

Karlark 22nd Feb 2012 16:40

Is it yellow?

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 16:42

Once again that's taken me to "C" in Aerofiles..........

P&W Wasp.........only one registered?

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 16:56

Is it yellow?
There are yellow ones:)

Once again that's taken me to "C" in Aerofiles........
Not the place to be David.

P&W Wasp.........only one registered?
Wasp yes, but there are a few of these aircraft around.

From Karl's rather "off the cuff" comment I have a feeling he knows the answer!

Edit...but he gone!!

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 17:07

If he knows the answer, why has he gone then?

evansb 22nd Feb 2012 17:14

Griffon Aerospace Lionheart ?

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 17:15

If he knows the answer, why has he gone then?
The most commonly photographed one of these, and the one that was used in publicity material is yellow!

skytrain10 22nd Feb 2012 17:18

Griffon Aerospace Lionheart ?
Spot on Bri :ok: Yes, the rather unsuccessful Lionheart kit plane, designed to bring back the spirit of the Beech 17. Had to hunt for that one photo that did not give it away:) I thought Martin's earlier comment about an Fw.190 with an extra wing might have got people thinking!

David, now you know why I made the comment that all is perhaps not what it seems:)

evansb has control:D

Lightning Mate 22nd Feb 2012 17:27
