Man-portable?

skytrain10 30th Oct 2011 15:50

Man-portable?
Nope....similar in size to a small light aircraft or homebuild job.

Lightning Mate 30th Oct 2011 16:15

Teledyne engine?

skytrain10 30th Oct 2011 17:15

Not a Teledyne...a Rotax

Lightning Mate 30th Oct 2011 17:34

Get back to "Challenge".........

skytrain10 30th Oct 2011 21:16

Clue time....one of a number of UAV's from this major aerospace company..

Lightning Mate 31st Oct 2011 08:41

No obvious sensors.

Is it a target drone?

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 09:36

Morning David

Is it a target drone?
No, primarily reconnaissance.

Despite its aircraft like appearance and size it is catapult launched.

European.

SincoTC 31st Oct 2011 11:21

Morning Ken,

Just having a coffee and a quick look for your UAV.

The nearest I've found that looks anything like it (and for some reason it came up in a "UAV" search) is a Dyn.aero MCR 4S without the landing gear!!! Any connection, but I'm not hopeful :)

Oh well, back to work now :(

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 11:26

Dyn.aero MCR 4S.......Any connection, but I'm not hopeful
Well, I wasn't expecting that, but I do see the likeness:)

Unfortunately no connection whatsoever Trevor. Have another cuppa!!

Lightning Mate 31st Oct 2011 12:57

'Artnoon Ken.

Very busy today (despite rumour control on another thread) with a very short lunch break.

Is this something from Sagem?

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 15:58

Sorry mste, like you have been a little rushed today.

Not by Sagem....we have had other UAV's from this company on SC.

Ridge Runner 31st Oct 2011 17:17

EADS, ken???

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 17:21

Afternoon Martin...someone has finally got there....yes, it is an EADS product. Several different models use the same model name, but each one has a separate number. Happy to accept the model name only.

Spit161 31st Oct 2011 17:42

EADs Arcturus?
OH if correct, as I'm off to a Halloween party..

cheers,
Jake.

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 17:49

EADs Arcturus?
Hi Jake, getting close, but not the Arcturus. Enjoy the party...:ok:

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 18:03

All. I have discovered that I made an incorrect statement in one of my replies. I went searching on the net, and have just found another article from a reliable source regarding this UAV, which states that "it was derived from the Dyn Aero MCR.4S". The original source that I used for my challenge made no reference to this fact, so Trevor, please accept my apologies...you were closer than you thought, and even closer than I thought you were! It explains why the MCR.4S came up in your search.

SincoTC 31st Oct 2011 19:04

Evening Ken,

That explains a lot, the similarity seemed uncanny!! I did have a quick look to find a connection but without the EADS part of the equation I didn't find one :)!

That now unlocks the log-jam and turns up a new (to me) site :E! Seems it's the EADS Surveyor 2500

skytrain10 31st Oct 2011 19:29

Hi Trevor

Seems it's the EADS Surveyor 2500
It is indeed and sorry once again for sending you off on a different track...certainly not intentional. I only found reference to Dyn Aero whilst looking it up in Flight.

SincoTC has control

SincoTC 31st Oct 2011 19:46

No need to apologise Ken,; Dyn.aero seem pretty quiet about it and I couldn't find any mention of the connection on their site!

A good challenge and surprisingly hard to find given its characteristics :ok: Although it does seem like the search engines are getting worse (the advanced search facility seems to have vanished from my favourite)!!

This one's not very good, but it's all I have at the moment :)
