Try this one ....
First thought...no idea. Some sort of homebuilt? British?

The Spitfire in the background...a cardboard cut-out?!

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 09:37

Not British mate. Not strictly a home-built, but could be argued that it was "home" designed. It was for a competition. Yes, a wooden Spit in the backgrond - it is in a museum after all! :)

Noyade 5th Sep 2011 09:56

Now looking at the USA.....

(Should I be looking at the USA?)

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 10:12

No, mate ;)

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 11:07

Not from the Americas

SincoTC 5th Sep 2011 12:11

Afternoon gentlemen,

Suspect Graeme may be  by now, or soon will be, but I see skwinty's light is on!!

Internet down locally most of weekend, at work now and pretty busy, as I will be all week, (even after hours with dog/house-sitting duties for rest of the month), however, I will get in when I can :) !

Martin; I suspect from the "wink", that this one may be in an Indian museum, probably in the Mumbai area ??

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 12:21

Hi Trevor!! Any why would you say that, mate? Of course, it is Indian but not Mumbai. Now I'll count the seconds till you get it!!!!! :) RR

skwinty 5th Sep 2011 12:33

IAF Kanpur-II

SincoTC 5th Sep 2011 12:39

Just beaten to it :ugh:Well done skwinty :D

Oh well, it's back to work for me now.

skwinty 5th Sep 2011 12:46

Thanks SincoTC,
If correct then OPEN HOUSE.:ok:

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 12:55

That's the one, Skwinty!!

AVM Harjinder Singh made the Kanpur II (BR-571) powered by a Lycoming 250 hp engine. It was the same class as HAL’s Krishak (inspired by Aeronca Sedan). Meanwhile, the Army wanted an aircraft for Air Observation Post (Air OP) duties. In order to select an aircraft for the Artillery, a team was set up in January 1963.

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 15:54

Cor....... It looks German to me. Is it? Or at least Austro/Hungarian/German?

Er.. hang on ... where's the power plant???

evansb 5th Sep 2011 16:15

Not a glider. Not German, nor from the Ottoman Empire.

Ridge Runner 5th Sep 2011 16:28

Thanks. I'll get thinking. Got to hit the road now... catch you later. RR

sabredog 5th Sep 2011 16:36

Gallaudet D-1

RegDep 5th Sep 2011 16:45

You got there first sabredog, but I was surprised about the question about power plant (not your question). It is clearly visible, just where it is.

The real reason for my post: Brian, you might wish to recap briefly your history of Europe 101 :).

evansb 5th Sep 2011 17:02

Sabredog is correct. The Gallaudet D-1/D-4. An advanced American design, operated by the U.S. Navy. Only the make of powerplant differentiates the D-1 from the D-4. Your turn.
