I knew you'd be drawn back once a little one appeared!
You know I like my GA! I did look at the previous challenge but didn't really have any time to think about it. Mind you, it wasn't from my favourite era!

Talking of which it must be time for another seaplane.....

That doesn't look too old....
...and rudders on the floats too - fairly unusual.

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 14:21

You're right, it doesn't look too old!

Not an expert on floats, but don't you need the rudder for taxiing (or whatever the term is on water)?

Lightning Mate 18th Jun 2010 14:31

Rudders on floats certainly help with taxying, and they are connected to the aircraft main rudder, but not many floatplanes have them fitted.

It was/is a favourite of Cessna, but this ain't a Cessna.

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 14:35

Ah ok...and you're right again, its not a Cessna.

Ridge Runner 18th Jun 2010 14:38

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 14:39

Lightning Mate 18th Jun 2010 14:43

Y'know something skytrain?

I don't think this is a Yank.

.....and many of the floats in the USA are made by Wipaire.

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 14:51

Well I guess there's a lot of floatplanes with rudders around!

Back to the challenge aircraft....you're right for the third time LM.

Ridge Runner 18th Jun 2010 14:53

THerefore its a scandic machine???

Lightning Mate 18th Jun 2010 14:58

you're right for the third time LM
That's like taking placebos - you simply feel better, but they don't actually help.

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 14:58

Not from Scandinavia RR

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 15:07

That's like taking placebos - you simply feel better, but they don't actually help.
You need to look at this in a more positive light....you have:
- speculated that it doesn't look old....which I have agreed with;
- said its not a Cessna, which I have agreed with;
- ruled out some 30% of the worlds aircraft;
- and now RR has ruled out a further 1 or 2% of the worlds aircraft

Now, surely thats made things a little easier!!

Ridge Runner 18th Jun 2010 15:10

Maybe I'm mad but could it be a ruskie? There are few places where they need floatplanes. Of course, it could be Canadian!!!! So, I'll plump for a canuck and I'll get searching again!!!

Lightning Mate 18th Jun 2010 15:13

I can rule out another several percent.

This one's got twin wing struts. :(

Ridge Runner 18th Jun 2010 15:17

meaning ?

Lightning Mate 18th Jun 2010 15:19

Lots have only one, so this might be bigger than we think - that's all.

skytrain10 18th Jun 2010 15:22

RR....you're not mad....it is from one of the 2 countries you've mentioned.
