Only the one gun Bri?

Failure performance wise or simply didn't win a contract or both?

U.S Navy or USAAF?

MReyn24050 13th Dec 2011 22:11

The Gallaudet DB-1 I believe.

evansb 13th Dec 2011 23:24

Yes Mel, your are correct.:ok: For the times, it was an advanced bomber design of all-metal construction. Too heavy and cursed with a structurally weak wing, only one DB-1 was produced. You have control.

MReyn24050 14th Dec 2011 00:14

Thanks Bri. Another very interesting challenge and aircraft. I will not be able to post a challenge until the morning in the UK. If anyone has one before then please go ahead and post it.
Mel

sycamore 15th Dec 2011 19:11

Must be a DC-6/7,or a Connie...?

norwich 15th Dec 2011 19:20

sycamore, yes it is one of those ? care to narrow it down ? the photo was taken by me this year in the air !

Keith.

Noyade 15th Dec 2011 19:48

Quick stab Keith. The caption that came with this photo described dual controls for pilot and co-pilot. The throttles look a little different to yours, but maybe the DC-6?...

norwich 15th Dec 2011 19:52

Ah Noyade ! You are narrowing it down a little more ! Not a DC-6 .... I was flying in this as a paying passenger in 2011 ? that should help ??

Keith ;)

Noyade 15th Dec 2011 20:00

Ahhh....thanks Keith. :) (Dual controls - unusual?)

Douglas DC-7 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

If correct, this should go to Sycamore.

norwich 15th Dec 2011 20:08

Noyade ! Yes that is correct, in fact the very same aircraft as your link N836D ! which I was lucky enough to fly from Opa Locka to St Maarten via Puerto Rico in earlier in the year ! as you say sycamore may deserve the credit for this !! Here is the landing at St Maarten !

He does Keith. My effort was rather pathetic. :( I didn't even consult Mel's list, surprised to see the DC-7 not there.

Sycamore?
