Danielson Airport - K5B3, a public airport located 2 miles (3 km) northwest of the borough of Danielson, in the town of Killingly in Windham County, Connecticut.
|
Yes, it was a B1 doing a short display |
Mel's Challenge
Evansb is correct. :ok::D. It is indeed Danielson Airport - K5B3.
You have control Bri. |
Thanks Mel. Here is the next 'Which Aerodrome?':

Bucharest, Baneasa (BBU)?
|
Duckbutt is spot on:ok: Bucurest, Baneasa, Romania it is.:D You have control.
|
|
Before landing here a pilot has to have either done so before sometime during the previous 2 years or have experience of flying in mountainous areas. Looking at the surrounding high ground one can see that this is not “de Trop”!
|
Not Mountain Air/Burnsville* North Carolina, by chance ?
*Unfortunate name that, considering. |
Not in the US, roughly 4,500 miles away from North Carolina (but Northern hemisphere).
|
I think it is La Mole in southern France.
|
That's the one Sir! You have control.
|
Okay, try this one.

Is it Calais?
|
Not Calais but it is in Europe.
|
Oberpfaffenhoffen?
Not likely but the name makes me laugh. Used to live nearby. The pic looks almost like a Microsoft landscape? Great thread BTW - sorry for the creep. |
Looks very Low Countries to me - that line of trees in the background is possibly a canal. It's either a very short runway or a huge apron - is that a Catalina?
I'll make a foolish guess at Leopoldsburg (BE) |
It's Leylstad north of Amsterdam.
|
Leylstad it is. There is a Catalina in the picture along with a 747 if you look close enough.
One thing that has always struck me as strange is that there is an ILS on the SW runway (you can see the glideslope to the left of the runway) but the touchdown markers are at the other end. |

Flaps
ref EHLE pic, pray tell, where is the 74 & Cat? 74 onto 4101ft ? Thks
|
Have a look at the Google Earth image of EHLE and you'll notice what looks like an aircraft museum abeam the RW23 threshhold and there is a B747 there but it doesn't appear in the originally posted pic.
Regards, BH. |
National Aviation Theme Park Aviodrome at Lelystad Airport

LFT's challenge
Google Earth doesn't give a name for the old German airfield, but it's just north of the town called Wittstock.
Location is 53.12N - 12.31E Open floor if correct. |
Correct, Wittstock it is,

Its around 1959 , but not Berne
|
dash7fan's challenge
You did not rule out Switzerland. Winterthur perhaps?
|
No, its not in Switzerland, but not far away.
|
dash7fan's challenge
How about Austria? Vienna Schwechat Airport when it was a single runway?
|
No Sir, but the hangars (listed buildings, in use since 1916, but not always at this airport) are still in use. The tower and all other buildings, except the small ones, are gone.
