Odd. I thought I probably have flown in about ten or fifteen aircraft types, then I started adding them up and I keep getting reminded of an odd one here or there. Flights I don't think of often. Going through the lists here reminded me of a few more. There were quite a few passenger flights in the seventies or eighties I can't remember the aircraft at all. Sacrilege!

Don't forget, for the groundcrew it was quite an achievement to get to fly in some aircraft, Vulcan and Hunter in my case, some like Nimrod and Chinook it is part of deploying and maintaining (Chinook rotor tuning), it is also interesting, for some, to see the diverse types and quantity that some have managed.

As I said earlier, good brain exercise,and like others, just looking served to remind me of odd one-off flights. I then remember where and when I flew each and could bore for England, but I won't any more than I have already. I guess you could have associated threads in the nostalgia thread - military bases visited, aircraft navigated (single seat pilots on a winner here) etc.

Well, I have flown a lot of types, only including LHS or command seat (no RHS or SLF included) it is about 210 types - in reality somewhat more but I can't find my post 1988 log books.
As far as ratings, this rating on my ATPL helped: "Any aeroplane during the conduct of performance test flights duties authorised by ......"
But, in reality I was never an "enthusiast" this stuff just sort of happened after joining the RAAF at age 18 - like lots of things in life.

I hesitate to join in here, but it is Jet Blast, and this topic triggered an interesting exercise in recalling the different aircraft I've been fortunate to experience over 60+ years. I won't list them - there's nothing very special. I came up with 20 different glider types - all of which I flew - some for many hours and kilometres. As passenger on commercial flights, and also with friends who generously offered me a flight or two, I came up with somewhere around 30+ different powered types - just a few of which I was granted freedom at the controls for a while. The last figure includes 2 trips in rotary wings - both memorable for different reasons.

Life has been good. One hundred years earlier, the magic of flight remained something of a dream for the average person. One hundred years into the future? Who can say; but I was on this earth at a time when all of this was possible, and I've been so very privileged to be part of it - even in a small way.
