That's the one. Carelessly posted the whole picture rather than the crop I had intended.

Take it away BEagle

The instruments look to be American rather than British. 1950 ish?

Not the Ryan Vertijet.

The AI is above the VSI and partially obscured by the V-shaped loop of fabric hangin down from the glareshield.

Whatever it is it looks crashed and subsequently unloved.
The stick arrangement suggests a FBW or boosted system as surely it is too short for a manual stick.
Dual RBI/RMI so needs navigation eqiopment. Possibly ILS or maybe Doppler (but deosn't look like a helo)
G meter and three-needle altimeter so high altitude capable
Twin I think.
Late '40s, early '50s?
Where's the throttle/s?

Several hundred of these existed! Long before FBW, it had powered controls though.

Single engine, throttle is just out of shot on the left side.

The `T`-Bar` ,or throttle-grip for holding during cat .launches indicates its USN/USMC,but the pic doesn`t do justice to one of the best looking jets, even if `Old Henry`said `you can only have `em in black` ..the `Ford`/F4D Skyray..fastest carrier-borne jet,s-sonic in level flight, world altitude record holder ...at that time,...
Thought it may have been a pic of the FJ-3,another `classy` jet..

OH if correct.....

Correct, sycamore, it is indeed the cockpit of a Douglas F4D-1 Skyray!

You have control!
