That's because the original thread disappeared for some reason.

I was thinking Acklington (where I did my basic training) but rejected it because of that without thinking!

Well. I've still got two challenges up on other threads, so I'll not take the OH.

Is this a place name that also happens to have an airfield, or is the name specific to the airfield ? i.e New York as opposed to Laguardia ?

Definitely known to most as an airfield, I assume named after a nearby village. UK

You've got the Gloucester connection, but that doesn't help you geographically speaking. Think about the animal (or its by-products!)

Getting close - define "Cured Old Spot, for example" and think of the question that can be answered with that phrase.

Wattisham has been done before as well - I posted it.

Made a reference to the Singing Postman and the Kray brothers.

Still, with the loss of the original thread, nobody could know that!

This thread seems to be running well and is therefore gettig steadily bigger. Could we persuade someone brighter than me to construct (& update) a "What Cryptic Aircraft, Manufacturer & Airfield Lists" sticky to help us to avoid the double entry problems?

Meanwhile:

If TTN’s Old Spots aren’t available, this Antipodean Airfield would provide an alternative product for curing.

Feel free mate. Mel has his work cut out with the other four.

I do all the congratulations cards for every x1000 posts.

To me, antipodian indicates Oz or NZ.

Oi A2, would you mind posting at 2 point size. Dunno why you always use 1 point......
