Noyade was correct with the previous Rockwell XFV-12. He has control if he still wants it.

G'day Brian. It is a Curtiss, but not the XP-37.

First flight was February 15, 1941...

It was a potential successor to the P-40 and built based on actual pilot experience in Europe.
It received a separate P designation.
