I have been around the square tower in back of Gannet, facing backwards, at very low level. Fifty years ago!
Added - trip was on 26 November 1971. Perhaps the machine had taken part in the Kai Tak venture of several days ago. Pilot? One of, I believe, two within the relevant organisation sharing initials with a South African who played cricket some years later.

Thanks, the photograph had a familiar ring to it. I am now off on long journey to Derriford, visiting. That also will ring a bell. Regret cannot play, so Open House.
I wonder if it was a demonstrator to Royal Oman Police?

Lets see about this one...............
Early Butterworth...?
Neither but closer to PNG than Butterworth - bu there is also an Oztralian connection.............
Yes Ambon - not my favorite airport at all ... it gets very bumpy with a NE wind funneling down from a gap in the mountains to the NE and late afternoon you can get a lot of Cu building up in the bay. The town is a dump a but at least they've finished the bridge - which saves a long taxi or "interesting" boat ride to town........................ Dook has control and can post immediately..............
