Not a Cessna - as you surmised David.

Looks familiar mate. Does Skylark or Wren have any involvement?

Say.....late 60's...?

Time for a another coffee.

PS...your island is getting smaller?...

It must be in the back of your mind mate....you are close

Say.....late 60's...?
Yes, first flow late 60's but adapted from an older design.

PS...your island is getting smaller?
Missed that news item, but yes, we get a lot of that....more on the east coast rather than the white cliffs - check out Hunstanton in East Anglia.

I don't think so mate. The coffee has ignited a few more brain cells and I think the aircraft I'm thinking of, I think, () is an experimental STOL conversion of something with various winglets everywhere. But it was sleek looking and not unlike a Cessna....

Ah...this wouldn't fall into the experimental category, and to the best of my knowledge was not subject to any mods such as winglets/STOL conversion etc.

Try another cuppa.....

Not my sort of music either. I'll be on line a little longer in case you have a sudden flash of inspiration and make the connection with your earlier suggestion

But just in case, good night. Usual rules apply if you think you've got it

Apologies have been out and about today. Guess no one else around to second Brian's guess. Yes of course it is the Rockwell/Aero Commander 100/180 Lark Commander. Well done Brian - nice to see a mass produced aircraft can keep people guessing

evansb has control

Well there was mate, but I wasn't 100% sure, and I couldn't find your source. I was even finding some machines from the late fifties that looked similar.

On the other hand, the Tagak - confirmed kill there.
