Must admit with that rather distinctive tail I though that someone would have got it or been close by now.

Not a triple layer tail...the "3rd" layer is actually the lower wing tip.

A good question. The "more well known" aircraft that I referred to was produced in different forms. The basic model had a more traditional tailfin, but variants had the "double" fin. The challenge aircraft appears to have a more streamlined version of the double fin, but that may be due to it being deflected in the photo. Hope that makes sense
is any part of the fin/rudder original? If so which part?
