Well, that challenge's doing his job pretty well...
I'll sum up and add two clues.
- Not in Europe
- Not in Australia
- Rwy hdg is 16/34 (both are used)
- Rwy is lined with smallish trees
...
- Airstrip is privately owned
- Airstrip is very near (< 5mi) to another airport
Good night and good luck
HP
Edit: ok, I'll wax eloquent.
"what do you call a piece of enclosed land planted with fruit trees?"

G'day Graeme,
A wild guess before hitting the hay!
By the large mainwheels, it's the prototype Comet and could it be Cairo ??
Open House if correct as I'm off now. Have a good day mate

Tis Cairo mate!
Are there a couple of airports in Cairo? This one started with "F", I think...I'll have to find the caption again.
Anyway.

Afternoon, just switched off the tv, great GP really.
People pulling with ropes a Dc-2 should make that plane the Uiver and that aerodrome Albury.
London Melbourne Race
I would also like to second Mel's congratulations to Cadel Evans.
I couldn't watch the contre-la-montre yesterday, but I really liked how he put his heart in every single stage of this Tour.
