Coffee time for me and time to drop a little clue, or at least a little detail to ferret out that might well lead to the challenge!

The engines are air-cooled, horizontally opposed twins of 32 HP each and are not from the same country as the aircraft.

Ok,OK! To keep the grey matter active, think of a child with wings, from an old English sea port.

LM, I'll send you the answer and further clues before I leave at about six-thirty!

Well done Reg!

The rest should be easy , by identifying the engines from my clues, you've also ruled out most of the aircraft that used them!

Oh, and by the way, if you check a popular list of applications for the engine, it's not on there !! However, it is on the web and on more than one site

Heading off now; I've sent LM the answer and a variety of clues, he should be taking up the reins soon.

I'll part with another cryptic clue!

Built in the city of a famous "aviation linked" shop, by a company of the same name as an American President of the sixties!

Good hunting chaps (I hope the plural is correct) and thanks again LM

Edited to say that I've sent PM and email, but have just resent the email with the answer to the clue above, which I'd forgotten to add !!

Night all

Good Morning all,

I'm not sure what happened to LM last night!

I saw that he had taken control at 19:05 and then realised that I had forgotten to mention something in my emailed answer/clues, so I attended to that and edited my last post, but my computer fell-over when I submitted the edit, so I shutdown and went home. I see that evansb gave the correct answer about ten minutes after LM had returned, but it hasn't been acknowledged.

Therefore evansb has control, well done and apologies for the delay!!

Well mate, I did say it would be easy after you identified the engines! Frustrating though innit, better luck next time

Did you get any "Database Error" messages last night? I did earlier in the day and was wondering if that's why my computer didn't reconnect after I edited my post and would also account for LM's absence, although, it would appear that you posted OK about half an hour later and I see that evansb's answer that came in while I was editing my post/shutting down, was also sucessfully edited at 20:33

I fear that we may be in for a quiet day, because as far as I know, evansb is in Alberta, so it's now the very early hours and unless he's an insomniac, we're unlikely to get a new challenge for some while yet. Sorry folks !

My apologies to all, especially to TC.

Within a few minutes of my submission last night, my monitor showed a horrible distorted picture and then quit.

Just back from the shops with another one.

Apologies accepted mate!

These things happen, it's just sod's law that my connection dropped when I submitted my edit and I was running too late to restart, otherwise I would have seen evansb's submission and cleared him for take-off if your light had gone off again

Nice new flat screen now?? time all those old CRT ones were gone for our eyes sake, but they did help keep the place warm!!
