I landed 20m from the main runway at Nadi in a balloon once, and witnessed a 747 take off as close as I'll ever see one I suspect (They'd held it so's we could land-steam gives way to sail

Almost all coastal USA airfields have their main runway running E-W. I've searched long and hard and haven't found such a site with the large island / peninsula between the airport and the sea.

Wild guess...somewhere in the San Fransisco bay area? Having said that, I can't find anything on google earth that matches it

Having followed the strong hint, I am assuming that seacue and Cubs2jets know the aerodrome I posted. But, until someone actually names it I remain undefeated!

Clue 4: Uniquely shaped hangar.
