Although an earlier design, it first flew in the '30s. Again: not American.

It's getting tough remembering what I've posted, and what's still out there!

This is a new one.

Extra points for this aircraft's operating company.

No responses?

I didn't think it was that hard (says he in a 'I know what it is' smug way)

Do we need a clue?

Good for going around Europe back then (winning prizes for doing so) this example's travelled in Europe right up to date.

It trialled a lot of good ideas for its younger brother.

Now lets see some answers!

What? Still not even a stab in the dark?

OK, another clue.

Was used a lot in films (particularly in the 1970s) because its little brother was impossible to get hold of, so it was a fat stand in.

Anyone out there?

I think everyone must be asleep. I'll admit I've waited a while as I was sure someone else MUST have recognised it but here goes..

Argghhh - just pipped at the post.

Apologies

Sorry, jabberwok, t'was just a stab in the dark given the clues.

Should it prove to be correct, I'll happily concede to you, since I've no access from work to submit a contribution, and the only photos I've got on the home PC are of Lynx.

Not certain, but perhaps I'm mistaken in capitalising Bayerische Flukzeugwerke products?

Well there y'go.
Just like buses. None for ages and then two at once.
Messerschmitt Bf-108 'Taifun' (Typhoon) D-EBEI 'Elly Beinhorn' of the Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin Foundation (DLBS). Beautiful aircraft, the classy way to travel.
The fuselage structure, wing, slats and undercarriage, as well as the tail feathers were all utilised (in concept rather than detail) for the 109; the 'little brother'. Used in 633 Squadron and Von Ryan's Express (among many others) as the Messesschmitt.
