I know everyone is sick of this question come up every few months, but thought id reopen it anyway. Any help in the matter will be most appreciated.
"QF Start Date
Has anyone out there been given a start date with the big Q recently, or does anyone have any info on upcoming courses to be run??? Any info would be great!!!"
Thanks.

I know of a couple of ppl with a start date on the 16th of dec, no idea what a/c type. Both Direct Entry, Also know of a couple having reference checks done.
Things are moving along! From what I hear courses are starting every month basically.
Cheers All

Thanks Freak Flyer,
Have another quesrion actually. If ur reference cx have been done, does it mean, your in? and if so, any idea on the waiting period?
I realise my questions reflect impatience, but as someone said on one of the other threads, its the wait that really kills.
Really would appreciate any comments/news etc!!
Thanks.

DJD,
With regards to reference checks, I don't think it means your in, but things are definately looking very good, one would assume that if they are going to the trouble to check references they must be interested. Put it this way, I've never heard of anyone get reference checked and not get in. Took me two weeks after ref checks to get a start date, but have heard of guys and gals with only a day or two wait.
Hope this all helps

Hope all goes well with QF.
Do you mind me asking how many hours do you have and your age. Just checking for myself really, as I have over the 500 hours command for QF minimums, but am in my early 30's. Cheers for the info.

If it is any use to those with an iminent start date, I am on classic conversion at present as are three others.
We were told that there will be a total of 12 classic S/O conversions, including us, in the very near future.
I don't think any of the remaining 8 have been filled as yet so would expect the next couple of courses to include 4 classic.
You won't know for sure until your first day.

Thanks IsDon,
Just a question, how long from start to your first flight is classic training? I've heard various things from 3 to 6 months, anything more solid than that?

Java, im 24, 1700hrs!!
well, my case has been slightly different to the norm. My Reference cx's were done on the day of my medical and CHC's.
So basically, they did not have my results at that stage. So im really not sure as to the waiting period to be expected etc!!
and its been close to 3 weeks since all that!!

Too Anyone Elso out there-
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but can anyone tell me if they have been or anyone they know been accepted in to QF with about 1000 hours and meeting all other criteria, but be in their 30's. Just trying to gauge my chances.

Freek,
your 3-6 months is correct as it has taken these 2 extremes depending on sim and instructor availability.
In our case we started in the last week of Sept and are programmed to do our last sim (of about 40) on 5 Jan but this date already looks like blowing out by a week or thereabouts, so 3 1/2 to 4 months for our course.
The classic course is the longest as it also includes a Flight Engineer conversion. S/Os also relieve the F/E, but you probably already knew that.
If the statement above about 4 classic PUITs on the November course is correct then expect another 4 in the new year. There are also some F/Os being trained on the classic at present.
