ACMI

QF is the third largest ACMI customer in the world. Alliance is the largest provider. A sad state of affairs that QF management have managed to get themselves into.

SkyTrans has already been purchased by an ACMI operator. Once they get all the paperwork sorted with CASA watch all the jobs go to foreign pilots. Sad state of affairs in this country.

AviatoR21 is close to the money here.

Alliance ACMI work is nothing compared to ASG.

Skytrans is now owned by Avia Solutions Group, who just happens to be the parent company to operators including SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, AirExplore, KlasJet and Magma Aviation.

In the above list is SmartLynx, SmartLynx Malta, SmartLynx Estonia, and i'm sure a one or two more on the list are also interrelated.

How long until Skytrans is known as SmartLynx Australia? Its a long long way from Dave running a few Bongo's, 310's and Titans around FNQ to this.

The number of ex TT peeps who are having a sniff is large and VA are probably the ones with the most to lose regarding crewing.
Watch this space, popcorn at the ready.

It’s a Skytrans AOC. They can’t have ACMI Pilots from Europe coming in and out doing this and that if they intend to operate domestic RPT. I know that is common in Europe across many counties, but they won’t allow that here. They need to be based here, with appropriate right to work, paying tax, and working for Skytrans. I don’t think anyone would bother doing that once they see cost of living here.

CASA wouldn’t let Bonza source crews via CAE or other pilot hiring contractors. All in house and locally or no dice.

However, with an appropriate offer to crews, I don’t think they whole have too many issues sourcing locally.

What makes you think that these guys are going to be an attractive employer? I can see significant time away from home if it’s anything like the European ACMI operators

Not really as Alliance isn’t the only ACMI provider to QF.

NJE/Cobahm
Pionair
Airwork
These provide probably 30-40 sectors a week to QF domestic freight.

Not to mention international where Atlas provide almost all the widebody freight services (except the token few widebodys at efa) and then we cannot forget about Finnair on the passenger front.

Nearly every part of the group utilises ACMI in some form or another and it shows how much potential revenue that is flowing out of the group by utilising these services long term not to mention the erosion of careers paths in the group. We should all be worried.

I didn't say it would be attractive, but what i"ve said is factual from the direct conversations I've had with people that were TT A320 and now VA 737.

You're 100% correct that there will be a lot of time away from home when operating ACMI.
