Quad meeting tokyo
RAAF A330 and a BBJ en-route to NRT this evening, just curious- why two? Nothing to do with politics as the logistics must have been worked out some tine ago. media contingent?- I would have thought either A330 had capacity or enough local TYO coverage. Back-up , possibly? Political staffers? Possibly for G7 but Quad? And in reality no staffers yet appointed. Of course Biden will have AF1, 3 C17s, kneecap and a sh*tload of others. India a B777. But why 2 for Australia?
Nearly 10 hours for the 737 direct. Quite impressive.

Just interested, one for the boffins.
What is the maximum time range for, say a 737-800 stripped down to VIP limited pax and the rest fuel, fuel, fuel?
Of course that should be pax AND their baggage travelling together, apparently an interesting concept Qantas might consider if you believe other Pprune threads!
Cheers

If you don't have a great deal of payload to carry, or better still, if you happen to be empty just ferrying the machine, then fill it up to maximum fuel and you will be able to go a great deal further. Some machines can do 50% more endurance under such conditions than what is possible to achive under 'normal' transport conditions.
Even with a full load of fuel, but little or no payload, the aircraft in reality will be light, and the fuel comsumption per hour will be less than if it would be, for instance, with half fuel and a full load of pax and/or cargo.

Do the military operate under ETOPs?
Didn't think they would, that's a PAX airline requirement?.
The U2 have probably done some long overwater flights.
Heard AF 1 Canada FIR responding to AF01. Security stepped up in Tokyo while POTUS
still in Korea. They sure like to make a big show with hundreds of extra officers and police vans.

The BBJ combines the fuselage of the Boeing 737-700 commercial airliner, with a strengthened rear section. It has the centre-section, wing and landing gear of a 737-800.

Dear lord, I started this thread with a simple non-political question as clearly the logistice were organised some time before the election. The last few replies have been risible.
F@ck, are you serious mate? You're posting on a social media site, similar to facebook but a bit different. Where did you think you were posting? On a secure private company intranet?
