Sooner or later the chickens come home to roost.

There are certain leaders at QF who should take this as an instructive lesson, even including those senior Captains who consider their abhorrent behaviour ‘normal’.

Someone please take out Alan Joyce? He is a pox on aviation in this country.

Just for the record, and also according to my kids, I don’t actually know anything...

I don’t think this is correct.
The 787 doesn’t fly to either HND or JNB for one. So no issues yet bar LHR that now only has one 787 and an one A380.
Numerous documents provided to the ASX clearly show the 787 as a 747 replacement and one for one.
At a recent dial in Andrew David said that at best they might order another two 787s.
Yes two. But Qantas are being sued by Perth airport as they won’t pay their bill. So no single PER to One European destination and no extra US destination as the ACCC hasn’t agreed to the QF/AA enhanced codeshare.
Pilots desperately want to believe expansion but the long entrenched reality is that its shrunk to the size it is. Qantas might see a minor increase at best. Joyce and co happy to limit fleet renewal and spend the money on share buybacks and increasing the share price short term and thus their bonuses tied to the share price. If I could make close to 90 million in bonuses/pay/options over the last 10 years I’d probably do the same.
The 747s will slowly be replaced one for one by the 787s. That’s why BNE-LAX-JFK now a 787 not a 747. etc etc.
AD did say that premium yields were off the charts and loads across all LH types very good as capacity was restricted.
Good news is Qantas can’t get smaller. And as global pilot pay rises and Qantas piss of their current ones with **** rostering and insulting EAs, unexpected retirements remain on the increase.
doubt that AW left because she was championing Qantas. Meet the Kumars Might even stay as International head.
Gareth will be the front runner for next CEO and he’s now in Jetstar before he’ll replace Joyce whenever it is he decides he’ll go.
I don’t think it will be soon.

I agree.

Meanwhile this old chestnut must only be days away... “due to not knowing jack about where pilots are going to move, especially from the 747, in consultation with AIPA, 🙄 we have decided to delay the 2019/20 training vacancy FSO and subsequent allocation until the flying plan has been confirmed.”

the EA means nothing you see

I don't think anyone said 787s fly to HND or JNB at the moment. Those markets are currently served by 744. She's apparently been fired for pointing out you get less seats SYD-JNB and SYD-HND if you replace a 744 with a 787. Less seats = less $$$ apparently.

You suggesting they are holding off the 787 SYD base slots for the 747 SYD redeployment?
6 747 to go and 6 787 to arrive. Qantas be within their rights to reserve every SYD slot on 787 as redeployment slots for 747 pilots.
Yes the timing could be better however no one plans Aircraft replacements as well as Qantas.

At least all the retirements will help them.

I wish someone would spill the beans why she walked.
I reckon it has nothing to do with gate slots or aircraft choices.

These level roles would have a min six months notice period. The fact that Alison is leaving so quickly means something has seriously happened...

Red hot rumour is that Alan is next and Andrew David not far behind.
Clearing the decks for Gareth.

I don't believe it but would love it to be true. Gareth is the only one I have time for and actually understands what the airline needs

On AW, I was impressed by her honesty and wouldn't give you a scripted answer. Clearly honesty hurts.
